ONE-COMPONENT TOUGHENED EPOXY ADHESIVES WITH IMPROVED ADHESION TO OILY SURFACES AND HIGH WASH-OFF RESISTANCE
Epoxy adhesives include a latent curing agent, a reactive toughener having capped isocyanate groups, and certain urea compounds. The toughener is made by chain extending and capping a mixture of isocyanate-terminated prepolymers. The prepolymers include an isocyanate-terminated polyether and an isocyanate-terminated diene polymer. The adhesives have excellent wash-off resistance and excellent ability to adhere to oily substrates.
Polymer polyol stabilizers
This invention relates to novel macromers comprise the reaction product of a starter compound having a functionality of 2 to 8 and a hydroxyl number of 20 to 50, with a modified isocyanate component. This invention also relates to preformed stabilizers prepared from these macromers, and to polymer polyols prepared from these novel macromers and novel preformed stabilizers. The present invention also relates to processes for preparing these compositions, to polyurethane foams comprising these polymer polyols, and to processes for preparing these polyurethane foams.

METHOD FOR DEBLOCKING A BLOCKED ISOCYANATE AND METHOD OF MAKING A POLYURETHANE
A method for deblocking a blocked isocyanate is described herein. The method includes contacting a blocked isocyanate and a halide ion source under conditions effective to provide a deblocked isocyanate. A method of making a polyurethane is also disclosed. The method of making a polyurethane includes combining a blocked isocyanate, a polyol, and a halide ion source in the presence of solvent and under conditions effective to provide the polyurethane.
BLOCKED POLYURETHANE TOUGHENERS FOR EPOXY ADHESIVES
The invention is directed to a toughener for epoxy adhesives, the toughener comprising both soft and rubber units, and may be described as a capped soft-rubber PU toughener. The invention includes the tougheners and methods of making them, as well as adhesives comprising the inventive tougheners, methods of using the tougheners and adhesives comprising them, and cured inventive adhesives and products comprising them.
Reaction products containing urethane groups and urea groups
The present invention relates to reaction products containing urethane groups and urea groups, containing at least one species of general formula (I), to a method for producing said reaction products, to the use of said reaction products as wetting agents, dispersants, dispersion stabilizers, and/or adhesion promoters, and to compositions that contain the reaction products containing urethane groups and urea groups. ##STR00001##
HIGH MODULUS, TOUGHENED ONE-COMPONENT EPOXY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVES WITH HIGH ASPECT RATIO FILLERS
One-component toughened epoxy structural adhesives contain fibrous mineral fillers that have an aspect ratio of ?6. The presence of the fibrous filler leads to a significant increase in elastic modulus while having little if any adverse effect on other properties such as dynamic impact peel resistance.
CURABLE COMPOSITION, CURED PRODUCT, AND ADHESIVE
A curable composition containing: a blocked isocyanate prepolymer containing a polyol compound, a polyisocyanate compound, a branching agent, and a blocking agent; an epoxy resin; and a curing agent and/or a curing accelerator, wherein the polyol compound is polytetramethylene glycol, the branching agent is a compound having at least three reactive functional groups capable of reacting with an isocyanate group, an amount by mole of the isocyanate group in the polyisocyanate compound is 2 mol or less relative to 1 mol of a total amount by mole of a hydroxy group in the polyol compound and the reactive functional groups capable of reacting with the isocyanate group in the branching agent, and an amount of the reactive functional groups in the branching agent is more than 50 mol % of the total amount of the hydroxy group in the polyol compound and the reactive functional groups in the branching agent.
