Integrated electromagnetic implant guidance systems and methods of use for sacroiliac joint fusion

A system for fixating a dysfunctional sacroiliac joint for SI joint fusion, the system including a sacroiliac joint implant, a sacroiliac joint screw or rod and a delivery tool configured for approaching a sacroiliac joint. The system may include an implant having a porous 3D matrix structure and may be manufactured by laser or electron beam additive manufacturing. The delivery tool may include a radiolucent material. The SI fusion system may further include custom sacroiliac joint implants, anchors, alignment tools or targeting arms manufactured for a particular patient. Pre-surgical imaging studies, including 3D rendering, and their interpretation may assist in planning desired trajectories, anchor dimensions and implant dimensions and may provide details specific to the manufacture of particular sacroiliac joint tools or implants and their implantation into the sacroiliac joint. The system may be configured for use with surgical robots and may include an integrated nerve monitoring and stimulation system.

BONE GEL COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

A bone gel composition consists of cortical bone. The cortical bone is made from cut pieces freeze-dried then ground into particles and demineralized then freeze-dried. A volume of the particles is placed in a solution of sterile water to create a mixture, the water volume being twice the second portion, the mixture is autoclaved under heat and pressure to form a gelatin, the resulting bone gel is placed in jars and kept at room temperature or frozen for later use. The cortical bone has the cut pieces having a width, a length and a thickness in the range of 1 to 4 mm The cortical bone pieces are ground to a particle size up to 125 microns.

MOLDABLE BONE COMPOSITION

A moldable bone composition consists of a mixture of: cortical bone and cancellous bone. The cortical bone is formed in three portions, a mineralized shaving portion and a demineralized shaving portion and a mineralized powder portion. The cancellous bone is formed in a mineralized crushed cancellous portion. The portions are free-dried and mixed together to form a freeze-dried moldable bone composition.

METHODS OF FORMING BONE INTERFACE SCAFFOLDS

Methods of forming a connective tissue-to-bone interface scaffolds (e.g., ligament-to-bone interface scaffolds, tendon-to-bone interface scaffolds, etc.). These scaffolds (grafts) may be formed from in such a way as to provide both a mineralized and demineralized layer in which the entire graft is flexible, compressible and compliant.

One implementation of the present disclosure may take the form of a sacroiliac joint fusion system including a joint implant, an anchor element and a delivery tool. The joint implant includes a distal end, a proximal end, a body extending between the proximal and distal ends, and a first bore extending non-parallel to a longitudinal axis of the body. The anchor element includes a distal end and a proximal end and is configured to be received in the first bore. The delivery tool includes an implant arm and an anchor arm. The implant arm includes a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end of the implant arm is configured to releasably couple to the proximal end of the joint implant such that a longitudinal axis of the implant arm is substantially at least one of coaxial or parallel with the longitudinal axis of the body of the joint implant. The anchor arm includes a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end of the anchor arm is configured to engage the proximal end of the anchor element. The anchor arm is operably coupled to the implant arm in an arrangement such that the longitudinal axis of the anchor element is generally coaxially aligned with a longitudinal axis of the first bore when the distal end of the implant arm is releasably coupled with the proximal end of the joint implant and the distal end of the anchor arm is engaged with the proximal end of the anchor element. The arrangement is fixed and nonadjustable.

Provided is an implantable composite which includes a plurality of resorbable ceramic particles with or without a biodegradable polymer. The resorbable ceramic particles can be granules including carbonated hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate in a ratio of 5:95 to 70:30. Some resorbable ceramic particles are granules, which include carbonated hydroxyapatite and β tricalcium phosphate in a ratio of 5:95 to 70:30. The resorbable ceramic particles have a particle size from about 0.4 to about 3.5 mm. The implantable composite is configured to tit at or near a bone defect as an autograft extender to promote bone growth. Methods of using the implantable composite are also provided.

Sacroiliac joint implant system

Accordingly, a broad object of the invention can be to provide an inventive implant to facilitate stabilization while allowing an amount of motion of a sacroiliac joint. Embodiments of the sacroiliac joint implant can provide an elongate body, which can further include at least one fixation member, or a pair of fixation members which extend a distance outward from the longitudinal axis of the implant body adapted for non-transverse placement between the articular surfaces of the sacroiliac joint, and as to certain embodiments can further provide a third fixation member and additionally a fourth fixation member each adapted to extend a distance outward from the elongate body into the bone of the sacrum or the ilium.

Bone implant for enclosing bone material

A bone implant for enclosing bone material is provided. The bone implant comprises a mesh having an inner surface and an outer surface opposing the inner surface. The inner surface is configured to receive a bone material when the inner surface of the mesh is in an open configuration. A plurality of projections are disposed on or in at least a portion of the inner surface of the mesh. The plurality of projections extend from at least the portion of the inner surface of the mesh and are configured to engage a section of the inner surface of the mesh or a section of the outer surface of the mesh or both sections of the inner and outer surfaces of the mesh in a closed configuration so as to enclose the bone material. A tray, a kit and a method of making the bone implant are also provided.

Cohesive bone composition

A cohesive bone composition is made from a moldable bone composition intermixed with a bone gel composition. The cohesive bone composition is made from human cadaver bone. A fluid can be added, the fluid may also be laden with cells.
