Methods of inhibiting precipitation of biodiesel fuel components
Embodiments of the invention provide a method of inhibiting precipitation of biodiesel fuel components. The method includes providing a biodiesel fuel composition; providing a copolymer comprising at least first and second polymer units, said first polymer units derived from a carboxylic acid anhydride and said second polymer units derived from an olefin; and blending said copolymer with the biodiesel fuel to form a treated fuel composition. Alternatively, instead of the copolymer, a dialkylene glycol additive can be provided. Embodiments of the invention provide a method of reducing the cold soak filter blocking tendency of a biodiesel fuel composition.
Paraffin inhibitor/PPD products with vinyl acetate-alkyl acrylate/methacrylate copolymers combined with ethylene-based copolymers
A stabilized paraffin inhibitor/pour point depressant (PI/PPD) product formulation is described which includes a copolymer having a monomer selected from the group consisting of alkyl acrylate polymers, alkyl methacrylate polymers, and combinations thereof, where the copolymer comprises vinyl acetate and the product includes an ethylene-based copolymer. The presence of the vinyl acetate stabilizes the product to prevent or inhibit the ethylene-based copolymer from separating out of the product. The product is useful to reduce paraffin deposition and/or improve flow characteristics of petroleum fluids, such as crude oil.
Aqueous polymer dispersions, a method for their preparation and the use thereof as pour-point depressants for crude oil, petroleum, and petroleum products
The invention relates to aqueous polymer dispersions comprising at least one polymer obtainable by the reaction of at least one monomer M1 of the general formula (I): H.sub.2C═CH—C(O)OR, wherein R is an unbranched alkyl chain comprising from 18 to 22 carbon atoms, and optionally at least one monomer M2. The invention relates moreover to a method for the preparing of such aqueous polymer dispersion and the use thereof as pour point depressant for crude oil, petroleum, and petroleum products.
Fuel composition
A fuel composition for powering a combustion engine, the composition comprising a liquid base fuel; and a (co)polymer obtainable by (co)polymerizing at least the following monomers: one or more bicyclic (meth)acrylate esters (a); up to 15 wt % of styrene (b); optionally other ethylenically unsaturated monomers that are not monomer (a) or (b); up to a total of 100 wt %, wherein the weight percentages of the monomer are based on the total weight of all of the monomers.
Mixed Liquid and Solid Fuel Composition
A fuel composition that provides a renewable biofuel energy source for reducing dependence on fossil fuels and improving air quality by reducing the amount of carbon monoxide released into the air during combustion. The fuel composition includes an energy crop comprising: a solid granular component being suspended in a liquid non-petroleum plant based fuel. The liquid fuel containing the granular component is efficacious in releasing copious quantities of vapor for burning. The vapor provides a more complete and efficient burn. The fuel composition further comprises an oxidizing agent for removing a plurality of electrons from the granular component during combustion, and/or an additive that imparts a change in the physical properties of the fuel composition.
Process for friction reduction during ethanol transport
This invention involves a process for reducing friction in ethanol during its transport through pipelines. This process involves combining ethanol with a polymer-based composition, characterized in that the polymer is obtained from at least 50 mol % of at least one monomer selected from the group comprising N-substituted acrylamides, N-substituted methacrylamides, N,N-substituted acrylamides, N,N-substituted methacrylamides, substituted acrylates and substituted methacrylates.
Additives For Low-Sulfur Marine Diesel
This invention relates to a fuel oil composition, containing a low-sulfur marine diesel having a sulfur content of less than 1 wt. % and (A) at least one ethylene copolymer and (B) at least one comb polymer.
Drag reducing agents
A drag reducing composition comprises a sealed temporary container; and a drag reducing agent and up to 20 weight percent of a dispersing fluid disposed in the sealed temporary container. The drag reducing agent comprises polyolefin particles having a particle size of about 10 to about 2,000 microns; and the dispersing fluid comprising water, an alcohol, a hydrocarbon, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing.
POLYMER DISPERSIONS FOR WAX INHIBITION
The present invention relates to a process of a process for preparation of a polymer dispersion comprising a step (E) of free radical polymerization in an aqueous medium (M) in the presence of: at least a pre-polymer (pO) soluble in the medium (M), at least one free-radical polymerization initiator, and at least one ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic monomer (m) which is chosen from an alkyl (meth)acrylate of at least C6, wherein the aqueous medium (M) includes water and at least one water miscible solvent.
Drag reducing agents
A drag reducing agent has a core comprising a polyolefin; and a temporary container encapsulating the core. The temporary container contains a container material, which includes an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, an ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer, a polyvinylpyrrolidone, an ethylene vinylpyrrolidone copolymer, a vinylpyrrolidone vinyl acetate copolymer, a polyvinyl acetate, a polyvinyl alcohol, a polyethylene oxide, a polyethylene glycol, polyvinylidene chloride, a polysaccharide or its derivative, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing. A largest dimension of the drag reducing agent is greater than about 1,000 microns.
