The new polymer includes a water soluble polymer backbone, a first functional group attached to the polymer backbone and having an affinity for latex, and a second functional group attached to the polymer backbone and capable of forming a bond with titanium dioxide. A polymer modified titanium dioxide pigment and a method of forming a pigmented paint formulation are also provided.

The present invention relates to a composition comprising 10 to less than 50 wt.-% of at least one oligomeric polyisocyanate a-1) based on hexamethylene diisocyanate and more than 50 to 90 wt.-% of at least one polyisocyanate a-2) based on isophorone diisocyanate, comprising monomeric isophorone diisocyanate and at least one oligomeric isophorone diisocyanate, and an isocyanate-reactive component selected from the group consisting of polyester polyol, polyether polyol and mixtures thereof. It has been shown that the above mentioned mixture of the specific isocyanate group containing components improves the thermal and mechanical properties of a cured composition. Thus prepared molded articles are particularly suitable for the preparation of spectacle lenses, inter alia due to these properties.

The present invention provides a laminate obtained by arranging a composition to be in contact with a rubber, wherein the composition is prepared by blending a polythiol compound (A), an isocyanate group-containing compound (B) and a radical generator (C), and wherein the ratio of the total molar number of the isocyanate group contained in the isocyanate-containing compound (B) to the total molar number of the thiol group contained in the polythiol compound (A) (isocyanate group/thiol group) is from 0.2 to 0.78, and provides a method for producing the laminate. The present invention thus provides a laminate, in which the rubber layer is adhered using at least one of an adhesive or an adhesive sheet capable of strongly adhering a rubber member, especially a vulcanized rubber member, and provides a laminate adhering to a rubber article using at least one of a coating agent and a coating sheet.

The present invention provides compositions comprising the reaction product of an aliphatic diisocyanate, and a reactive intermediate made from one selected from the group consisting of oxazolidinones, benzoic sulfimides (saccharins), 1H-indole-2,3-diones (isatins), succinamides, N-hydroxysuccinamides, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehydes (vanillins), α-ketoamides, piperazines, benzofuranones, 3,4-dihydroxycyclobut-3-ene-1,2-diones (squaric acids), squaric acid esters, α-ketoamides, anilines, and α-ketoamide, phenols. The aliphatic diisocyanate comprises one selected from the group consisting of isocyanurates, biurets, iminooxadiazine diones, urethanes, uretdiones, carbodiimides, and allophanates. The resulting compositions may be useful in producing coatings, adhesives, sealants, castings, composites and films having durability, color stability, high gloss, and chemical resistance properties similar to those made from polyurethane.

A continuous process forms a unitary mat on a line having at least two conveyors spaced from each other. The process includes combining the isocyanate, an isocyanate catalyst, and a plurality of lignocellulosic particles to form a mixture and a self-polymerization product of the isocyanate in-situ in the mixture. The process also includes forming the unitary mat from the mixture on a first conveyer and transferring the unitary mat from the first conveyor to a second conveyor across a predetermined distance while maintaining structural integrity of the unitary mat. The lignocellulosic particles have a moisture content of 0.5 to 30 weight percent of water. Moreover, the continuous process is free of a step of adding water to the isocyanate, the isocyanate catalyst, the lignocellulosic particles, and/or the unitary mat.
