A method for electrically assisting with the propulsion of a rolling system comprising a driving wheel driven by an electric motor, the torque applied by the motor being a function of a propulsion torque transmitted by a user to the driving wheel, wherein the method comprises: a preliminary step of storing in memory an unknown input model representing the weighted system, which is a function of the geometry and of the mass of the weighted system, and having as output data the rotational speed of the driving wheel; a step of estimating unknown input being the total torque applied to the wheel, influencing the rotational speed, the total torque being estimated from the rotational speed by calculating the inverse model; the propulsion torque transmitted by the user being deduced from the total torque estimated on the basis of the other known torques that make up the total torque.

An electrically assisted wheelchair includes a controller that obtains an inclination assist value by correcting the assist value when a road surface is inclined in a left-right direction of the seat, and performs a downhill turning preventing operation of causing the wheelchair body to travel straight by applying right auxiliary power and left auxiliary power corresponding to the inclination assist value. The controller adjusts the right auxiliary power and the left auxiliary power by correcting the inclination assist value based on a hand rim operation of the user to operate at least one of the right hand rim and the left hand rim in the downhill turning preventing operation.

A seat unit includes a first seat frame and a second seat frame. The first seat frame is connected with a drive carrier and includes at least one first mounting portion. The second seat frame includes wheel frames and a mounting frame fixedly connected with the wheel frames. Each wheel frame is mounted with an auxiliary wheel. A space is defined between the mounting frame and the wheel frames. The drive carrier is located in the space. The mounting frame includes at least one second mounting portion. One of the first mounting portion and the second mounting portion is a rod, and the other is a receiving portion. The rod is movably inserted through the receiving portion. When the second seat frame is displaced relative to the first seat frame, the auxiliary wheels of the wheel frames can move together relative to the drive wheels of the drive carrier.

Disclosed is a drive unit for a wheelchair and a wheelchair including such. The wheelchair includes a control input and a structural frame with two lateral frame elements, each supporting a drive wheel. The drive unit includes two drive motors within a driveshaft housing, adapted to drive the drive wheels independently based on input via the control input. The drive shaft housing is releasably attached between the two lateral frame elements of the wheelchair and connected to the drive wheels via quick-release couplings. The drive shaft housing is divided into at least two sections, each section housing one of the drive motors and that the at least two sections of the drive shaft housing are telescopically moveable relative to each other for adjusting the width of the drive shaft housing to different wheelchairs having different distances between the lateral frame elements of the structural frame of the wheelchair.

The present invention provides a manual stair climbing wheel chair. The wheel chair comprises a hand crank handle, seat reclining devices, a gear box and a driven sprocket wheel set. When the seat of the wheel chair is reclined by using the seat reclining devices, the front and rear wheels of the wheel chair are only driven by the gear box through the driven sprocket wheel set, and cannot be pushed or propelled by hands; the person propelling the wheel chair can drive the front and rear wheels only by rotating the hand crank handle, so that self-slippage of the wheel chair can be avoided when moving up and down on stairs.
