Polyolefin-Polystyrene Multi-Block Copolymer and Method for Producing Same
A polyolefin-polystyrene multi-block copolymer and a method of making the same are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a polyolefin-polystyrene multi-block copolymer satisfies conditions (a) to (c) determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and condition (d) determined by .sup.13C NMR, (a) a weight average molecular weight (M.sub.w) of 50,000 g/mol to 150,000 g/mol, (b) a molecular weight distribution of 1.5 to 3.0, a differential of concentration fraction to logarithm of molecular weight as a function of logarithm of molecular weight, obtained from GPC, is modeled to a Gaussian function represented by Equation 1, and (d) a polyolefin block contained in the polyolefin-polystyrene multi-block copolymer includes at least one branched chain. The polyolefin-polystyrene multi-block copolymer has a structure in which polystyrene chains are attached to both ends of a polyolefin chain. The polyolefin-polystyrene multi-block copolymer has excellent mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elongation at break, and modulus.
Block copolymer composition
A block copolymer composition is disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a block copolymer composition includes a diblock copolymer and a triblock copolymer, each including a polyolefin-based block and a polystyrene-based block, wherein the polyolefin-based blocks are present between 45 wt % to 90 wt %, wherein the polystyrene-based blocks are present between 10 wt % to 55 wt %, wherein the difference (ΔT) between a thermal decomposition initiation temperature and a thermal decomposition termination temperature (ΔT) measured by Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) is 55° C. or greater, and the diblock copolymer and the triblock copolymer do not have a residual unsaturated bond.
Block copolymer composition
A block copolymer composition is disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a block copolymer composition includes a diblock copolymer and a triblock copolymer, each including a polyolefin-based block and a polystyrene-based block, wherein the polyolefin-based blocks are present between 45 wt % to 90 wt %, wherein the polystyrene-based blocks are present between 10 wt % to 55 wt %, wherein the difference (ΔT) between a thermal decomposition initiation temperature and a thermal decomposition termination temperature (ΔT) measured by Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) is 55° C. or greater, and the diblock copolymer and the triblock copolymer do not have a residual unsaturated bond.
Organozinc Compound Preparation Method, Chain Transfer Agent, Block Copolymer, and Resin Composition
The present invention relates to a chain transfer agent including an organozinc compound, a preparation method thereof, and a method for preparing a block copolymer using the same. A chain transfer agent prepared by a preparation method including preparing a Grignard reagent containing styrene residues, and reacting the prepared Grignard reagent with alkyl zinc alkoxide, which is a zinc compound, has not catalyst poison and by-products, and contains 96 wt % or more of a target compound. A block copolymer polymerized using the chain transfer agent and a resin composition including the block copolymer have excellent mechanical properties.
POLYETHYLENE AND POLYPROPYLENE BLOCK COPOLYMERS
A semicrystalline multiblock copolymer includes alternating blocks of semicrystalline isotactic polypropylene (iPP) and semicrystalline polyethylene (PE), having a block arrangement according to formula (I):
(iPP.sub.w).sub.p(PE.sub.x)(iPP.sub.y).sub.m(PE.sub.z).sub.n (I),
wherein p is 0 or 1; m is 0 or 1; n is 0 or 1; the sum of p, m, and n is 1, 2, or 3; and the sum of w, x, y, and z is greater than or equal to 40 kg/mol, with the provisos that: when m and n are 0, the sum of w and x is greater than or equal to 140 kg/mol; and when p and n are 0, the sum of y and x is greater than or equal to 140 kg/mol. Related compositions and methods are also provided.

A semicrystalline multiblock copolymer includes alternating blocks of semicrystalline isotactic polypropylene (iPP) and semicrystalline polyethylene (PE), having a block arrangement according to formula (I):

wherein p is 0 or 1; m is 0 or 1; n is 0 or 1; the sum of p, m, and n is 1, 2, or 3; and the sum of w, x, y, and z is greater than or equal to 40 kg/mol, with the provisos that: when m and n are 0, the sum of w and x is greater than or equal to 140 kg/mol; and when p and n are 0, the sum of y and x is greater than or equal to 140 kg/mol. Related compositions and methods are also provided.
Block copolymer composition
A block copolymer composition is disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a block copolymer composition has a weight average molecular weight (M.sub.w) of 70,000 g/mol to 120,000 g/mol, a polydispersity index (PDI) of 1.0 to 2.0, a glass transition temperature (T.sub.g) of −55° C. to −30° C., and a melt index (MI), measured at 230° C. and a loading condition of 5 kg, of 0.2 g/10 minutes to 3.0 g/10 minutes. The block copolymer composition has excellent processability.

In some embodiments, a block copolymer composition has a weight average molecular weight (M.sub.w) of 70,000 g/mol to 120,000 g/mol, a polydispersity index (PDI) of 1.0 to 2.0, a glass transition temperature (T.sub.g) of −55° C. to −30° C., and a melt index (MI), measured at 230° C. and a loading condition of 5 kg, of 0.2 g/10 minutes to 3.0 g/10 minutes. The block copolymer composition has excellent processability.

The diblock copolymer is present at less than or equal to 19% , based on total weight of the block copolymer composition, the polyolefin-based block includes a repeating unit represented by Formula 1, and the polystyrene-based block includes one or more of Formulas 2 and 3: ##STR00001## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, C3 to C20 alkyl, or C3 to C20 alkyl substituted with silyl, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each independently C6 to C20 aryl, or C6 to C20 aryl substituted with halogen, C1 to C12 alkyl, or C3 to C12 cycloalkyl, n is an integer from 1 to 10,000, and l and m are each independently an integer from 10 to 1,000.
