Medical support apparatus
A medical chair includes a seat supported by a base and actuators adapted to both tilt and lift the seat with respect to the base. A controller controls the actuators to both lift and tilt the seat as the seat moves from the sitting position to the standing position. The movement from the sitting position to the standing position assists in the egress of an occupant from the chair, while the movement from the standing position to the sitting position assists in the ingress of an occupant to the chair. A backrest on the chair remains substantially vertically oriented during movement between the sitting and standing position so as to provide more comfort to the occupant during the sit-to-stand or stand-to-sit movement. The backrest also moves in a manner that generally keeps the occupant's torso vertically aligned with his or her hips during this movement.
Dynamic seating and walking wheelchair with an active seat with powerlift to stand
A dynamic seating and walking wheelchair includes an active seat and a frame. The active seat is configured to move from a seated position to a standing position. The active seat includes a seat back with an upper end and a lower end, and a seat bottom with a front end and a rear end. The rear end of the seat bottom is rotatable about a movable pivot axis approximate to the lower end of the seat back from the seated position of approximately horizontal to the standing position of approximately vertical. The frame is configured to support the active seat. Wherein, when the active seat moves from a seated position to a standing position, the movable pivot axis moves both up and backwards.
Motion assistance system for wheelchairs
The presently disclosure describes a motion assistance system for a wheelchair, for example, a powered drive wheel system that can continually drive a wheelchair in a circular or elliptical path. The motion assistance system comprises a mounting mechanism attachable to one or more structural elements of the wheelchair, and a drive linkage pivotable with respect to the mounting mechanism. A drive wheel can be mounted to an end of the drive linkage such that the drive wheel contacts the ground when installed on the wheelchair. The drive wheel comprises a plurality of lateral rollers positioned radially about the circumference of the power drive wheel. The lateral rollers can rotate about an axis tangential to the circumference of the drive wheel in order to facilitate driving the wheelchair in a radial direction.
Mechanical wheelchair drive and wheelchair having such a mechanical wheelchair drive
The invention relates to a mechanical wheelchair drive, comprising a rotatably mounted lever, a handle fastened to the lever, and a force transfer unit for transferring rotational motion of the lever to a wheelchair wheel, wherein the lever has a variable length and is guided along a closed guide of a guide plate, said guide deviating from the circular form, such that the length of the lever changes during the rotational motion.
Patient transport apparatus with controlled drive member deployment
A patient transport apparatus transports a patient over a floor surface. The patient transport apparatus comprises a support structure and support wheels coupled to the support structure. An auxiliary wheel is coupled to the support structure to influence motion of the patient transport apparatus over the floor surface to assist users. An actuator is operatively coupled to the auxiliary wheel and operable to move the auxiliary wheel relative to the support structure from a retracted position to a deployed position. A user interface sensor is operatively connected to the actuator and configured to generate signals responsive to the user touching the user interface. A controller is operatively coupled to the user interface sensor and the actuator to operate the actuator in response to detection of signals.
Anti-Rollback Braking System For Wheelchairs
The invention provides systems, kits, and methods for improved anti-rollback braking systems for personal conveyances such as wheelchairs. Unlike friction-based systems, the invention uses a pneumatic distribution system that uses pistons to engage an anti-rollback braking solution. The invention can be used by individuals with or without the assistance of another person because the braking system can engage automatically as a user gets out of their wheelchair. Systems of the invention can also provide reliable and more efficient manual brakes.
FRAME FOR A PATIENT CARRIER AND A PATIENT CARRIER APPARATUS
A frame with wheels and a braking system for a patient carrier apparatus, which frame comprises a front, a back, a first side, and a second side, which wheels are arranged with the frame, which braking system comprises an actuator arranged to cooperate with a brake arrangement arranged to apply a braking motion against the wheels.
CAREGIVER OPERATED MOBILITY SCOOTER DEVICE
A caregiver operated mobility scooter device includes an elongated main body having at least one front wheel and a pair of rear wheels. A user chair extends upward from the top surface of the main body, and an adjustable table is positioned between the chair and the front end of the main body. An operator control panel is positioned on a steering column that extends outward from the back end of the main body at a location behind the user chair. The control panel is operable by a caregiver walking behind the main body and includes functions for steering the scooter and operating a motor that is connected to the wheels.
System to adjust drive operation and performance in response to detection of a front add-on for a wheelchair
A wheelchair including a steering assembly configured to selectively attach to the wheelchair, the steering assembly including a steering member, a front wheel operably connected to the steering member, a frame assembly configured to carry the steering member and the front wheel, and a mounting assembly coupled to the frame assembly, and a drive assembly coupled to the wheelchair. The drive assembly is configured to operate in a first configuration in response to the steering assembly being detached from the wheelchair, and the drive assembly is configured to operate in a second configuration in response to the steering assembly being attached to the wheelchair.
