VALVE ASSEMBLY FOR CUSHION INFLATION
20190038492 · 2019-02-07 ·

The present disclosure generally relates to a manifold valve assembly engaged to an inflatable apparatus, such as a cushion to prevent pressure ulcers, for example. The manifold valve assembly is also in communication with a processing device to determine an optimal immersion level for a user seated on the inflatable apparatus. Additionally the processing device, in communication with the manifold valve assembly may save optimal immersion or air pressure levels for comparison to future checks of cushion pressure and send that to a user interface at the processing device. The assembly and processing device may also save and display a history of pressure checks.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CUSHION INFLATION

A system includes a client application executed by a client computing device for setting up an inflation level and checking an inflation level of an inflatable cushion having at least one air cell or zone and at least one pressure sensor within the cushion that detects air pressure. The client computing device communicates with the inflatable cushion and determines an optimal inflation level for a user of the inflatable cushion.

Dynamic Support Apparatus

A dynamic support apparatus. The dynamic support apparatus includes a cushion, at least one actuator wherein the at least one actuator defines an interior volume and wherein the interior volume may be configured to be at least partially filled with a fluid, and a support disposed in the interior volume wherein the support configured to support an occupant when the interior volume is not filled with the fluid such that the support is sufficient to support the occupant.

MULTI-LAYERED CUSHIONING SUPPORT

Multi-layer cushion supports are described which may generally comprise a first support having a first contact surface for contacting a portion of a body and a second surface opposite to the first surface, the first support defining a central chamber and a peripheral chamber surrounding the central chamber, wherein the first support is filled with a first gas or liquid and a second support attached to the first support along the first contact surface. The second support may be filled with a second gas or liquid which is relatively more viscous than the first gas or liquid. In particular, the first support may be filled with a volume of air and the second support may be filled with oil which is less than the volume of air.

LOCKING MECHANISM OF AN ARMREST ASSEMBLY FOR A WHEELCHAIR AND A WHEELCHAIR COMPRISING THE SAME
20180344549 · 2018-12-06 ·

The present disclosure relates to a locking mechanism (7) of an armrest assembly for a wheelchair, comprising: an elongated inner arm (9) having a pivot end portion (9a), and a first elongated body (9b) extending from the pivot end portion (9a), an elongated outer profile (11) having a proximal outer profile end face (11a) provided with an axially extending channel (11b) configured to receive the first elongated body (9b), and a distal outer profile end portion (11c), the outer profile (11) being configured to move linearly relative to the inner arm (9), between a proximal position relative to the pivot end portion (9a) and a distal position, a locking handle (13) having a second elongated body (13a) configured to receive the outer profile (11), the locking handle (13) having a proximal locking handle end portion (13b) relative to the pivot end portion (9a) of the inner arm (9) and a distal locking handle end portion (13c), the distal locking handle end portion (13c) being configured to be pivotally attached to the distal outer profile end portion (11c) thereby forming a first pivot connection (7b), wherein the locking handle (13) is configured to pivot about the first pivot connection (7b) relative to the outer profile (11) and the inner arm (9), between a proximal pivot position and a distal pivot position in which the locking handle (13) is pivoted further away from the outer profile (11) than in the proximal pivot position, and a locking structure (15). The locking handle (13) is configured to cause the locking structure (15) to engage with the outer profile (11) and the inner arm (9) to axially interlock the outer profile (11) with the inner arm (9), and wherein the locking handle (13) is configured to move the locking structure (15) from engagement with the outer profile (11) and the inner arm (9) to release the outer profile (11) from axial interlocking with the inner arm (9) when the outer profile (11) is in the proximal position and the locking handle (13) is moved from the distal pivot position towards the proximal pivot position.

Support platform for seating appliance

A support arrangement and corresponding method, is provided for supporting a user in a seated invalid appliance, the arrangement comprising a support member and at least one reconfigurable connection arrangement arranged to enable connection of the support member to the appliance and the application an adjustable tensile load to the support member. The connection arrangement may comprise a bridging element configured to extend between the support member and the appliance, such as a clip or hook. The hook or clip may be S-shaped or C-shaped in cross section. The connection arrangement may be received in an aperture or recess provided in the support member and/or the appliance to bridge the gap there between. The invention is particularly suited for use with wheelchairs or seated sports appliances for a disabled user.

Patient contact compensating wheelchair

This patent pertains to patient contact compensating wheelchairs. One implementation includes a motorized base that includes a battery and a seat positioned above the base. In one instance, the seat can include a moisture permeable structure configured to support a patient and a fan configured to move air below the moisture permeable structure to carry moisture from the patient away from the moisture permeable structure. Another implementation includes a set of patient contact objects configured to alternatively contact first and then second portions of an underside of the moisture permeable structure so that at a first time more of the patient's weight is supported at the first portion than at the second portion and at a second time more of the patient's weight is supported at the second portion than at the first portion, to relieve contact pressure of the patient.

NET-LIKE STRUCTURE

A net-like structure has a three-dimensional random loop bonded structure constituted of a thermoplastic elastomer continuous linear body having a fiber size of greater than or equal to 0.1 mm and less than or equal to 3.0 mm. The net-like structure has, in the thickness direction, a solid-section fiber main region mainly including solid-section fibers, a hollow-section fiber main region mainly including hollow-section fibers, and a mixed region including solid-section fibers and hollow-section fibers in a mixed state, located between the solid-section fiber main region and the hollow-section fiber main region. Both solid-section fiber main region-side residual strain of the net-like structure and hollow-section fiber main region-side residual strain of the net-like structure are less than or equal to 20%, and the difference between the solid-section fiber main region-side residual strain and the hollow-section fiber main region-side residual strain is less than or equal to 10 points.
