The second pivot arm may be coupled to the frame and coupled to a ground engaging caster wheel. The suspension assembly may be coupled to the frame. The suspension assembly may include a first spring assembly and a second spring assembly. The first spring assembly may be disposed about a first spring axis and coupled to the first pivot arm. The second spring assembly may be disposed about a second spring axis and coupled to the second pivot arm. The first spring axis and the second spring axis may be disposed relative to each other at an angle of no greater than about 150° when the mobility vehicle is operating on horizontal ground.

Method and apparatus for setting or modifying programmable parameter in power driven wheelchair

A method and apparatus for setting or modifying a programmable operating parameter associated with a power driven wheelchair is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes: a) operating a user interface device associated with a power driven wheelchair in a programming mode, b) selecting a programmable operating parameter associated with operation of the power driven wheelchair using the user interface device, c) selecting a value for the programmable operating parameter using the user interface device, and d) saving the selected value for the programmable operating parameter in a portion of a storage device associated with the power driven wheelchair using the user interface device. A method and apparatus for selecting one or more programmable parameter sets from a portable storage medium and saving the selected sets to a local storage device associated with a power driven wheelchair and vice versa is also provided.

Stability control system

Embodiments of a suspension for a vehicle is provided. The suspension includes, for example, a frame and a locking assembly. The locking assembly inhibits tipping of a frame of the vehicle when tipping of the frame is detected.

Mobility device for physically disabled people

Mobility device for physically disabled people 1, comprising a chassis 10 with at least one motor for maneuvering the entire mobility device 1; a pivot arm 20, which at its lower end 22 is pivotably connected to the chassis 10; and a pelvis support 40, which is connected to an upper end 23 of the pivot arm 20; wherein a physically disabled person 2 can sit with the pelvis support 40 attached to its body, can move around with the mobility device 1 in a standing position on the chassis 10, and can change on its own from sitting to standing position, wherein all elements of the mobility device 1 except the elements directly contacting the body of the person 2 extending above pelvis height h of the sitting person 2 can be lowered or moved to or below this height h. The present invention further comprises a method for erecting of a sitting physically disabled person 2 and for fixing of the person 2 in standing position onto a motor-driven mobility device 1.

Wheelchair suspension

Wheeled vehicles, such as wheelchairs, that are adapted to traverse obstacles are provided. The wheeled vehicles include a frame, drive wheels, front anti-tip wheels positioned in front of the drive wheels and rear anti-tip wheels positioned behind the drive wheels. One exemplary vehicle includes front anti-tip wheels supported by rigid arms that are fixed to the frame and drive assemblies that are independently suspended from the frame. Another exemplary vehicle includes a linkage that links the front and rear anti-tip wheels, such that movement of one of the front or rear anti-tip wheel relative to the frame causes movement of the other wheel relative to the frame.

BARIATRIC WHEELCHAIR

There is described a bariatric wheelchair, in particular a manual wheelchair, that includes a wheelchair chassis, a seating area provided on the wheelchair chassis, a backrest supported onto the wheelchair chassis, as well as front wheels and rear wheels provided on the wheelchair chassis to allow wheeling of the wheelchair. The backrest exhibits a lower backrest portion supported onto the wheelchair chassis, next to the seating area, the seating area and lower backrest portion having a first width (W1) that is selected to accommodate a wheelchair user's nominal hips width (WH) ranging between 500 millimeters and 800 millimeters. The backrest further exhibits an upper backrest portion, in the vicinity of the wheelchair user's shoulders, having a second width (W2) that is smaller than the first width (W1), which second width (W2) is selected to liberate space for movement of the wheelchair user's arms and shoulders and so as not to exceed a wheelchair user's nominal shoulder articulation width (WS) ranging between 400 millimeters and 600 millimeters.

WHEELCHAIR, IN PARTICULAR MANUAL WHEELCHAIR FOR BARIATRIC OR HEAVY DUTY USE
