Actuators based on unbalanced moments of inertia
Methods and computer-readable mediums are provide that, in some embodiments maximize bending of an actuator and, in other embodiments, minimize bending of the actuator. For example, in one embodiment, a method is provided that acquires a first ratio of a modulus of inertia for a first component to a Young's Modulus for the first component. The method also acquires a second ratio of a modulus of inertia for a second component to a Young's Modulus for the second component. Thereafter, the method provides an actuator (which includes the first component and second component). The actuator has a cross-sectional shape such that the first ratio substantially equal to said second ratio. In various embodiments of the invention, the actuator is spun fibers formed into batting and used as insulation, or may form an active element of a thermostat.
Sea-island composite fiber
A sea-island composite fiber includes island component fibers having a circumscribed circle diameter of 10 to 1000 nm, a circumscribed circle diameter variation of 1 to 20%, a non-circularity of 1.2 to 5.0, and a non-circularity variation of 1 to 10%.

NON-WOVEN FABRIC FOR DRYER SHEET
The present disclosure relates to a method for preparing a non-woven fabric which improves impregnation and release properties of a fabric softener in the non-woven fabric in order to apply the non-woven fabric to a dryer sheet (sheet-type fabric softener). When increasing porosity and specific surface area in a non-woven fabric made of two-component blended polyester long fibers, impregnation and release rate of a fabric softener are improved even when the non-woven fabric is lightened, making it possible to apply the non-woven fabric to a dryer sheet.
NON-ROUND SOLUTION SPUN SPANDEX FILAMENTS AND METHODS AND DEVICES FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF
Non-round or shaped solution spun spandex filaments as well as methods and devices for production of these non-round or shaped solution spun spandex filaments are provided.

Non-round or shaped solution spun spandex filaments as well as methods and devices for production of these non-round or shaped solution spun spandex filaments are provided.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING FLAME-RETARDANT BULKY FIBER WITHOUT FLAME RETARDANT ON FULLY-DRAWN YARN (FDY) MACHINE
A method for manufacturing a flame-retardant bulky fiber without a flame retardant on a fully-drawn yarn (FDY) machine is provided. The flame-retardant bulky fiber is formed by winding a plurality of spiral yarns arranged in the same direction; and the yarns are polyester yarns with a fineness of 0.52 DPF to 80 DPF. The method includes the following steps: slicing and drying a polyester masterbatch; spinning through a spinning die, and cooling by side blowing; cooling and oiling; drawing by a first hot roller; drawing and shaping by a second hot roller; and winding. The present disclosure can manufacture a flame-retardant bulky fiber on an FDY machine, which has the same effect as drawn textured yarn (DTY) manufactured by a texturing machine. Moreover, without being added with any chemical flame retardant, the flame-retardant bulky fiber of the present disclosure can reach the flame-retardant standard of home textiles.
FEED SPACER FOR REDUCING DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE OF REVERSE OSMOSIS ELEMENT, AND FORMATION NOZZLE
Provided is a feed spacer for reducing differential pressure of a reverse osmosis element, the feed spacer forming the reverse osmosis element, the feed spacer comprising a plurality of strands disposed in a mesh shape having predetermined intersection points, and wherein a vertical cross section of each of the strands has a rhombic shape such that a pressure loss of in the feed spacer is minimized by an effective flow of raw water at an interface of a reverse osmosis membrane, and a nozzle for forming the feed spacer.
CENTRIFUGAL SPINNING APPARATUS AND PLANAR RECEIVING-TYPE CENTRIFUGAL SPINNING AUTOMATIC PRODUCTION DEVICE
The present invention discloses a centrifugal spinning apparatus, including a frame, a spinning device, a feeding device for providing a spinning solution to the spinning device, and a collection device for collecting centrifugal spinning fibers ejected by the spinning device. The collection device is horizontally disposed below the spinning device, to enable the centrifugal spinning fibers ejected by the spinning device to be attached to a surface of the collection device. A planar receiving-type centrifugal spinning automatic production device using the centrifugal spinning apparatus breaks through existing centrifugal spinning based on ring collection and centrifugal spinning technologies based on electrostatic collection, resolves a preparation problem of continuous filament of the centrifugal spinning, and achieves mass production of the centrifugal spinning. The whole production process is completed automatically without manual intervention.
