COLORIMETRIC GAS SENSOR BASED ON NANOFIBER YARN FOR GAS INDICATION INCLUDING IONIC LIQUIDS AND COLOR CHANGE DYES AND METHOD OF FABRICATING SAME
Disclosed is a colorimetric gas sensor using a complex polymer nanofiber structure for yarn-based gas indication, in which ionic liquids as effective gas adsorbents and color change dyes having varying colors have been functionalized in a nanofiber and a method of fabricating the same. In the fabrication method, after the ionic liquids and color change dyes are mixed with a polymer solution in which high-temperature stirring and quenching processes are accompanied to prepare fine crystals of color change dyes. Accordingly, the dual-electro-spinning process is conducted to produce the nanofiber yarn scaffold on which ionic liquids and color change dyes are finely functionalized.
Polyketone Fibers, Production and Use Thereof
Disclosed are melt-spun fibers comprising thermoplastic aliphatic polyketone as a first polymer and a selected polymeric component as a second polymer.
These fibers are distinguished by excellent mechanical properties, such as good bending recovery, by very good sliding properties, by high hydrolysis resistance and by high abrasion resistance.
POLYMERS FOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
Porous and microporous parts prepared by additive manufacturing as disclosed herein are useful in medical and non-medical applications. The parts are prepared from a composition containing both a solvent soluble component and a solvent insoluble component. After a part is printed by an additive manufacturing process it is exposed to solvent to extract solvent soluble component away front the printed part, resulting in a part having surface cavities.

SUSTAINABLE TIRE WASTE AEROGEL WITH TUNABLE FLEXIBILITY MADE FROM RECYCLED TIRES FOR AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATIONS
A method of manufacturing an elastic polymer aerogel material includes dissolving tire waste in a first portion of a solvent to form a first mixture; dissolving a polymer having at least one double carbon-carbon bond in a second portion of the solvent to form a second mixture; combining the first mixture and the second mixture, wherein the tire waste reacts with the polymer having at least one double carbon-carbon bond to form a reactant gel; and undergoing a solvent exchange on the reactant gel followed by freeze drying the reactant gel to form the elastic polymer aerogel material. The tire waste includes natural rubber, synthetic polymers, steel, and curing systems, and the elastic polymer aerogel material defines a 3D porous structure.

ISOTROPIZED READY-TO-USE PLASTIC PELLETS WITH HIGHLY ENTANGLED NANOFIBRILS AND METHOD OF PRODUCTION
Disclosed herein is a method for producing isotropized ready-to-use polymer pellets or granules that contain completely or substantially relaxed matrix molecules and entangled organic nanofibrils with long aspect ratios that will provide superior properties for the products without high cost. These pellets are cost-effectively produced using industrial-scale fiber spinning or melt-blowing/spun-bond equipment followed by an isotropizing pelletizer. These pellets enable one to mass-produce the micro-fibrillar or nanofibrillar composites with superior mechanical properties, because they are readily usable (ready-to-use) for industry-scale mass production systems with a very high throughput over 1000 kg/hr. The organic nanofibrils are well dispersed and entangled in the polymer matrix and have a long aspect ratio ranging hundreds to thousands, to tens of thousands. The nanofibrils are entangled with each other to have proper rheological properties for film or foam processing, and to have good mechanical properties of the final products.
