Provided is a fire resistant yarn, the yarn comprises, based on the total weight of yarn, 4-20% by weight of modified polyphenylene sulfide fiber, and 35-90% by weight of modified acrylic fiber, wherein the modified polyphenylene sulfide is a polyphenylene sulfide which is at least partially sulphonylated, sulfoxidated, or a combination thereof. Provided further is a fire resistant fabric, the fabric comprises, based on the total weight of the fabric, 4-20% by weight of modified polyphenylene sulfide fiber, and 35-90% by weight of modified acrylic fiber, wherein the modified polyphenylene sulfide is a polyphenylene sulfide which is at least partially sulphonylated, sulfoxidated, or a combination thereof. Provided further is a garment and a fire resistant workwear comprising the fire resistant fabric according to the present disclosure.

Polymer fiber actuators

Actuators (artificial muscles) comprising twist-spun nanofiber yarn or twist-inserted polymer fibers generate actuation when powered electrically, photonically, chemically, thermally, by absorption, or by other means. These artificial muscles utilize polymer fibers non-coiled or coiled yarns and can be either neat or comprising a guest. Devices comprising these artificial muscles are also described. In some embodiments, thermally-powered polymer fiber torsional actuator has a twisted, chain-oriented polymer fiber that has a first degree of twist at a first temperature and a second degree of twist at a second temperature in which the bias angles of the first degree and second degree of twist are substantially different.

A thread made from extruded silicone rubber that is cross-linked after the extrusion and woven into a fabric having warp threads and/or weft threads and a coating including cross-linked silicone rubber, the thread or the coating including a fluorinated rubber portion. The invention also relates to a method for producing such threads and woven fabrics. The object of the invention is to improve thermal and chemical resistance. To this end the fluorinated rubber part is produced only by surface fluorination of the cross-linked thread or the coating by means of a fluorinated gas.

FABRIC AND ARTICLES HAVING FIRE-RESISTANCE, CUT-RESISTANCE, AND ELASTIC RECOVERY AND PROCESSES FOR MAKING SAME
20220325443 · 2022-10-13 ·

A ply-twisted yarn, and fabric and article comprising the yarn, the yarn comprising: (a) at least one first yarn comprising at least 50 weight percent heat-resistant polymeric fiber, wherein at least 30 weight percent of the polymeric fiber present in said yarn is cut-resistant heat-resistant polymeric fiber having a cut resistance of 500 grams force or higher per ASTM F2992-15; and (b) at least one second yarn having a sheath/core construction with a sheath of halogenated self-extinguishing staple fibers and a core comprising at least one continuous elastomeric filament, wherein 60 to 95 weight percent of (b) is halogenated self-extinguishing fiber, and the halogenated self-extinguishing fiber being in contact with the elastomeric filament and being free or substantially free of inorganic fibers.

Label and related method

A label and related method of manufacture that includes a fabric made of yarn, in either cut individual singles or continuous ribbon format in any length. The yarn includes a fiber that has been recycled, that is recyclable, that is organic, that is biodegradable, and/or that can be derived from a material that is known to be environmentally friendly. The yarn, in one embodiment, may include a fiber defined as “high filament count” material, above the current industry standard of 24 filaments, being in the range of 72 to 96 to 144 filaments or higher per individual yarn, in any denier range of 30 denier to 150 denier thickness, in natural raw white, optical dyed white, or dyed colors. These yarns can be independent of each other.
