Device for cutting off a length of weft yarn during weaving on a weaving machine and a weaving machine provided with such a device

A device for cutting off weft yarn (27) during successive weaving cycles, comprising a cutting element (1) and a rotatable detaining element (2c), (13) which is forced to a detaining position by a spring force in order to detain the yarn and can rotate, under the influence of a tensile force exerted by a rapier on the detained yarn, counter to the spring force to a non-detaining position in which the yarn can be moved further towards the cutting element (1) in order to be cut. Such a device is efficient and can be made to be more reliable and more compact than existing devices. The invention also relates to a weaving loom provided with such a device.

Weaving Machine with an Apparatus as well as Method for Holding, Feeding and Inserting Weft Threads in a Loom Shed

Apparatus and method for holding and feeding weft threads (1, 2) to the gripper (6) of a weaving machine with drives (25, 29), with which clamps (11, 12) for the weft threads (1, 2) are moved on motion paths (35, 36) into respectively a feed position (16, 19), a transfer position (17, 20) and a ready position (18, 21). The motion path (35, 36) of each clamp comprises a shape that is closed in itself. In that regard, the motion beginning of at least one of the clamps (11, 12) out of its ready position (18, 21) into its feed position (16, 19) takes place in a time segment that extends from the beginning of the beat-up motion of the weaving reed (9) until the beat-up of the previously inserted weft thread (1, 2) against the beat-up line (10) of the weaving machine.

A weaving machine with a shedding arrangement (10, 25) for forming loom sheds (3) between warp threads (1) drawn off from a thread supply (9), a weft insertion arrangement (20) for inserting weft threads (2) in the form of tapes into the formed loom sheds (3), and a drawing-off arrangement (30) for drawing off the woven fabric (4) formed by warp and weft threads (1, 2) after a weft thread insertion. The weaving machine encompasses a measuring arrangement (40) for detecting geometric parameters, especially the width, of a weft thread (2) before its insertion in the loom shed (3), as well as an evaluating arrangement (45) for evaluating the detected measurement results. A control arrangement (50) for controlling a motion of the woven fabric (4), including the drawing-off, based on the evaluated measurement results, is present on the weaving machine and is connected with the drawing-off arrangement (30).

Loom and method for guiding a woven fabric in a loom

A weaving machine includes a shed forming device, a weft insertion device, and a weaving reed that beats up the weft threads at a beat up plane against an edge of the woven fabric. A guide device extends over a width of the woven fabric and is driven by a drive, the guide device being one or both of an upper guide unit that contacts a top surface of the woven fabric or a lower guide unit that contacts a bottom surface of the woven fabric. One or both of the upper and lower guide units are positionable in a direction of thickness of the woven fabric to contact and guide the woven fabric in an area of the beat up plane. The guide section of one or both of the upper and lower guide units has a profiled shape in a weft direction to guide the woven fabric at different thicknesses in the weft direction.
