Infant care device including predictive failure side panels
An infant care device that can include a failure indicating feature in one or more of the side panels to discourage improper use of the side panels to move the infant care device. When a side panels is used to move the infant care device and a force greater than a pre-determined maximum is applied to the side panel, the failure indicting feature indicates such improper use. The failure indicating feature is designed to provide an indication at a level of force that is less than the level of force that would damage the hinge and latch assembly holding the side panel. The failure indicating feature can provide a physical indication or a visual indication when a force greater than a predetermined maximum is applied to the side panel.
AN INFANT INCUBATOR
The present invention relates to infant incubators with heated walls. The infant incubator (1) comprises a base (2), a mattress (3) arranged on the base (2), a triple walled hood (4) surrounding said base (2) to enclose an infant compartment (5), and a triple walled access door (6) pivotally mounted to the base (2). The triple walled hood (4) and the triple walled access door (6) comprises an inner wall (7), an intermediate wall (8) and an external wall (9) spaced apart from each other so that an inner space (10) and an outer space (11) are formed on each side of the intermediate wall (8). The inner space (10) and the outer space (11) are fluidly connected to each other by means of openings (12) in the intermediate wall (8) so that a warm gas flow (14) is provided within the inner space (10) and the outer space (11).
Side panel latch assembly for an incubator
A neonatal incubator system includes an enclosure having side panels that create a chamber that receives an infant. At least one of the side panels is movable between an upright closed position and a retracted open position. A side panel latch assembly is positioned to permit and prevent movement of the movable side panel between the open and closed positions. The side panel latch assembly includes a movable latch lever having a primary latch member and a secondary latch member that are spaced from each other. The primary latch member engages a first catch on a latch receptable to hold the side panel latch assembly in the latched position. The secondary latch member engages a second catch on the latch receptacle when the side panel is partially open. The primary and secondary latch members move together with the latch lever to release both the primary and secondary latch members.
