COLLISION AVOIDANCE IN SURGICAL ROBOTICS BASED ON NON-CONTACT INFORMATION
20230190396 · 2023-06-22 ·

Robotic systems can be capable of collision detection and avoidance. A medical robotic system can include a first kinematic chain and one or more sensors positioned to detect one or more objects detected within a vicinity of the first kinematic chain. The medical robotic system can be configured to cause adjustment of a configuration of the first kinematic chain from a first configuration to a second configuration based on a constraint determined from the one or more objects detected by the one or more sensors within the vicinity of the first kinematic chain.

Systems for positioning a patient are provided. A patient positioning system comprises a set of break assemblies, each break assembly comprising a mount for receiving padding, wherein each break assembly is operable to independently rotate to provide a coronal break relative to a longitudinal axis of the frame; and a set of tilt assemblies mounted to the frame, each tilt assembly operable to independently tilt relative to a longitudinal axis of the frame, wherein the break assemblies are mounted to the tilt assemblies.

Surgical Tables

Manual drive function for surgical tools

A surgical tool comprising a drive housing having a first end and a second end, a spline extending between the first and second ends, a carriage provided in the drive housing and movable between the first and second ends, and a mechanism for manually actuating the spline. The mechanism may be arranged at the first or second end of the drive housing. The mechanism may further include a frame, a spline coupling rotatably mounted to the frame to receive an end of the spline, and a ring gear rotatable about the frame and operatively coupled to a pinion gear attached to the spline coupling such that rotation of the ring gear about the frame correspondingly actuates the spline.
