Lift Assembly For Patient Support Apparatus

A patient support apparatus comprises a base and a support frame. The patient support apparatus also comprises a lift assembly that operates to lift and lower the support frame relative to the base. The lift assembly comprises lift members that extend and collapse to lift and lower the support frame. Guides operate to guide movement of the lift members during operation. In some cases guided bodies coupled to the lift members move passively in the guides. In other embodiments, driven members coupled to the lift members move actively in the guides to cause lifting and lowering of the support frame.

An articulated patient support apparatus includes upper and lower body support frames hinged together to form a patient support assembly which is hinged to head and foot end supports. One end of the assembly includes a length compensator to enable hinged angulation between the body support frames. Hinge motors are connected between the frames to cause hinged articulation therebetween. One or both of the body support frames has a body slide assembly mounted thereon to enable part of a patient's body to move linearly along the particular body support frame by operation of a slide motor to compensate for hinged articulation of the frames. The hinge motors and slide motor have encoders interfaced to a controller to digitally coordinate sliding movement with hinging articulation.

A proximal femoral bone elevating device used during a total hip replacement surgical procedure for primarily lifting the proximal femoral bone outside the surgical wound to allow the surgeon for adequately ream and prepare the lifted bone for insertion of trials and implant into the medullary cavity of the proximal femur. The device comprises a main gearbox, a vertical shaft and a bone hook attachment which is placed under the trochanteric region of the proximal femur. The main gearbox is firmly attached over the sterile drapes to the side rails of conventional operating tables. Turning the crank handle will raise the vertical shaft and the bone hook thereby lifting the proximal femur outside the surgical wound.

Patient examination system

A patient examination system including a frame assembly, one or more motion-controlling assemblies connected to the frame assembly for moving one or more selected movable portions of the frame assembly, and a patient support assembly. The patient support assembly includes a seat subassembly including a seat cushion, a back subassembly, a footrest subassembly including a footrest cushion, and a cover element covering a top side of the seat cushion and an external side of the footrest cushion. The cover element has an exposed surface for engagement with the patient. The seat subassembly includes the seat cushion and is secured to the upper element of the frame assembly. The frame assembly is configured to support the seat subassembly relative to the floor in a lowered position thereof, in a raised position thereof, in intermediate seat positions therebetween, and in Trendelenburg positions.
