Porous polyester material
A polymeric material that includes a thermoplastic composition containing a continuous phase that includes a polyester and a copolyetherester elastomer is provided. The copolyetherester elastomer is dispersed within the continuous phase in the form of discrete domains. A porous network is defined within the thermoplastic composition that includes a plurality of nanopores.
Method for making a shaped nonwoven
A method for making nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric can include three-dimensional features that define a microzone comprising a first region and a second region. The first and second regions can have a difference in values for an intensive property. The nonwoven further has a plurality of apertures, wherein at least a portion of the aperture abuts at least one of the first region and the second region of the microzone.
Nonwoven webs with hydrophobic and hydrophilic layers
A nonwoven web for use in an absorbent article is described. The nonwoven web has first and second nonwoven layers. The first nonwoven layer has a first plurality of fibers, an additive disposed, at least in part, on a portion of the first plurality of fibers, a first side and an opposing second side, wherein second side has a plurality of discontinuities. The second nonwoven layer has a second plurality of fibers, a first surface and an opposing second surface, and a plurality of tufts extending through at least a portion of the discontinuities in the first nonwoven layer, wherein the second nonwoven layer is attached to the first nonwoven layer such that at least a portion of the second plurality of fibers are in liquid communication with the first nonwoven layer, wherein the first nonwoven layer is hydrophobic and the second nonwoven layer is hydrophilic.
APPARATUS FOR MAKING NONWOVEN FROM CONTINUOUS FILAMENTS
An apparatus for making nonwoven has a spinning device for spinning continuous filaments and moving the spun filaments in a vertical travel direction along a vertical travel path and a mesh belt below the spinning device, traveling in a horizontal direction, and having a multiplicity of vertically throughgoing openings distributed generally uniformly over its surface and of which a portion are plugged. A cooler and a stretcher are provided along the path downstream of the spinning device and above the belt for cooling and stretching the filaments and depositing the cooled and stretched filaments at a predetermined deposition location on the belt. A blower underneath the belt at the deposition location aspirates air through the openings and thereby holds the deposited filaments down on the belt.

CROSS-LINKED NON-WOVENS PRODUCED BY MELT BLOWING REVERSIBLE POLYMER NETWORKS
A method comprises providing a polymer. The polymer is heated to a first predetermined temperature so as to liquefy the polymer. The liquefied polymer is formed into a polymer fiber. The polymer fiber is cross-linked to form a cross-linked polymer fiber comprising a polymer network by at least one of cooling the polymer fiber to a second predetermined temperature lower than the first predetermined temperature or exposing the polymer fiber to a cross-linking stimulus, the cross-linked polymer fiber capable of being decross-linked by heating to a third predetermined temperature above a characteristic decross-linking temperature of the polymer.

APPARATUS FOR MAKING SPUNBOND
An apparatus for making spunbond from continuous thermoplastic filaments has a spinneret for spinning the continuous filaments and advancing them in a filament-travel direction, a cooler for cooling the filaments, a stretcher for stretching the filaments, a depositing device including a foraminous belt extending in a machine direction transverse to the filament-travel direction for deposition of the filaments as a nonwoven web and conveyance away from the stretcher, a diffusor between the stretcher and the foraminous belt so that filaments and primary air from the stretcher enter into the diffusor, and a suction device for extracting air through the foraminous belt at an unobstructed extraction region underneath the diffusor outlet and having a width b in a machine direction that is greater than a width B of the diffusor outlet. The diffusor forms upstream and downstream secondary air-inlet gaps at opposite ends through which secondary air is aspirated into the diffusor.
