Method and apparatus for making a nonwoven from crimped filaments
A nonwoven web is made by displacing an air-permeable mesh-belt conveyor in a horizontal travel direction and spinning and then depositing crimped continuous filaments as a web at a deposit region on the air-permeable mesh-belt conveyor. A first preconsolidation stage is provided downstream of the deposit region and a second preconsolidation separated by a suction gap from the first stage. Air is drawn air through the web and the conveyor at the deposit region at a first predetermined speed, the first and second consolidation stages at a second and third predetermined speeds, and at the suction gap either not at all or at a fourth predetermined equal to at most substantially less than the second predetermined speed.
Meltblown-spunbonded-meltblown laminated fabric
There is disclosed a laminated, nonwoven fabric and a process for producing such a laminated, nonwoven fabric having desirable fluid holding and fluid release characteristics. The process provides that two sheets of meltblown fiber fabric are produced on forming wire assemblies, cooled at a cooling area, and are then laminated on opposite sides of a sheet of spunbonded fibers using to form the laminated, nonwoven fabric.
FIBER-CONTAINING MATERIAL, METHOD FOR INSERTING OUT-OF-PLANE REINFORCEMENT THREADS, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING FIBER-CONTAINING MATERIAL
Provided are: a fiber-containing material which has improved strength in an out-of-plane direction without a decrease in strength in an in-plane direction; a method for inserting out-of-plane reinforcement threads; and a method for producing the fiber-containing material. The fiber-containing material contains a base material and out-of-plane reinforcement threads. The base material contains reinforcement fibers extending in a direction along a plane. The out-of-plane reinforcement threads are formed in the base material so as to extend in a direction intersecting the direction along the plane.

Partially Fixated Semi-Finished Textile
A semi-finished textile for producing a fiber composite component part has a textile structure and a fixation structure so as to provide a semi-finished textile that can be easily handled and that is suitable for use in complex component part shapes. The textile structure includes a first multitude of reinforcement-fiber bundles of high-performance fibers. Displacement sections are formed between adjacent reinforcement-fiber bundles and adjacent reinforcement-fiber bundles can be displaced against each other. The fixation structure fixates the reinforcement-fiber bundles, depending on the textile structure, with a fixation pattern in such a way that the reinforcement-fiber bundles are fixated at least partially and the displacement sections remain at least partially free.

Carriers for composite reinforcement systems and methods of use
Systems and methods for reinforcing structures with composite reinforcement systems are disclosed herein. According to aspects of the present disclosure, a carrier of a composite reinforcement system for repairing and/or reinforcing a physical structure is disclosed. The carrier includes a plurality of carbon fibers. Each carbon fiber has a longitudinal axis and a length extending in a generally 0 degree direction. The carrier further includes at least one fiberglass fiber having a longitudinal axis and a length extending in a generally 90 degree direction across the plurality of carbon fibers. The plurality of carbon fibers constitute at least about 70 wt % of the carrier and the at least one fiberglass fiber constitutes at most about 30 wt % of the carrier.
Method and apparatus for forming compression-bonding portion to continuous body of web member with fiber bundle
A method for forming compression-bonding portions in a continuous body including a fiber bundle while conveying the continuous body includes: rotating a rotator to convey the continuous body; compressing a target part of each of the compression-bonding portions in the continuous body using a first compression-bonding apparatus and the rotator to form the compression-bonding portions of a first stage; and further compressing each of the compression-bonding portions of the first stage using a second compression-bonding apparatus and the rotator to form the compression-bonding portions of a second stage. At least one of the compression-bonding portions is positioned between the first compression-bonding apparatus and the second compression-bonding apparatus in the direction of rotation of the rotator when the second compression-bonding apparatus compresses the compression-bonding portion of the first stage.
Method and apparatus for forming compression-bonding portion to continuous body of web member with fiber bundle
A method for forming compression-bonding portions in a continuous body including a fiber bundle while conveying the continuous body includes: rotating a rotator, while holding the continuous body on an outer peripheral surface of the rotator, to convey the continuous body; compressing a target part of each of the compression-bonding portions in the continuous body using a compression-bonding member and the rotator to form the compression-bonding portions; and pressing the continuous body inwardly in a radial direction of the rotator using a pressing member, while avoiding forming the compression-bonding portions in the continuous body, the pressing member being opposed to the outer peripheral surface of the rotator, at a position upstream in the direction of rotation from the compression-bonding member.
