The end effector may include a first jaw and a second jaw, the first and second jaw being moveable between an open position in which ends of the jaws are separated from each other, and a closed position in which the ends of the jaws are closer to each other as compared to the open position. The surgical instrument may also include at least one rotary cutter extending from the wrist and positioned at least partially within a recess formed in a face of the first jaw.
COLLISION AVOIDANCE IN SURGICAL ROBOTICS BASED ON NON-CONTACT INFORMATION
Robotic systems can be capable of collision detection and avoidance. A medical robotic system can include a first kinematic chain and one or more sensors positioned to detect one or more objects detected within a vicinity of the first kinematic chain. The medical robotic system can be configured to cause adjustment of a configuration of the first kinematic chain from a first configuration to a second configuration based on a constraint determined from the one or more objects detected by the one or more sensors within the vicinity of the first kinematic chain.
Patient Securement System for the Surgical Trendelenburg Position
A patient securing overlay is provided that includes a sheet of fabric for supporting a patient's torso on a surgical table. The sheet of fabric has an upper surface configured to face the patient and a lower surface configured to face a surgical table mattress or underbody support. The sheet of fabric includes friction enhancing elements applied to at least a portion of the upper surface thereof. The sheet of fabric can include an extension at a foot end of the sheet of fabric that provides material to be tucked under a foot end of the surgical table mattress or underbody support for securing the foot end of the sheet of fabric to the surgical table mattress or underbody support. The extension can include one or more friction enhancing elements.
MECHANISM FOR THE TRANSFER OF MEDICAL DEVICE TO BED RAIL
A medical device transfer system configured to transfer a medical device to a bed rail, including: a transfer assembly configured to be attached to the medical device including: a clamp latch; a cart latch; a clamp engagement element configured to engage a clamp fixture; and a cart engagement opening; and a cart engagement assembly configured to engage the transfer assembly and to connect to a cart, the cart engagement assembly comprising a transfer assembly engagement element, wherein the transfer assembly engagement element is configured to engage the cart engagement opening, wherein clamp latch is configured to lock and unlock the transfer assembly to the clamp fixture, and wherein the cart latch is configured to lock and unlock the cart engagement assembly to the transfer assembly.
LINKAGE MECHANISMS FOR MOUNTING ROBOTIC ARMS TO A SURGICAL TABLE
In some embodiments, an apparatus can include a surgical table and an adapter coupled thereto. The adapter includes an interface structure, a first link member coupled to a second link member, and a third link member coupled to a fourth link member. The first link member and the third link member are each pivotally coupled to the interface mechanism at a shared first pivot joint. The second link member and the fourth link member are each coupleable to a robotic arm. The first link member and the second link member collectively provide for movement of the first robotic arm in at least one of a lateral, longitudinal or vertical direction relative to the table top. The third link member and the fourth link member collectively provide for movement of the second robotic arm in at least one of a lateral, longitudinal or vertical direction relative to the table top.
CLAMPING CLAW FOR ATTACHING TO A SLIDE RAIL OF AN OPERATING TABLE
A clamping claw is disclosed. The clamping claw includes a base body with a support surface that rests on a slide rail and a clamp assembly. The clamp assembly includes a shaft mounted rotatably about a first rotational axis and a support element pivotably mounted about a second rotational axis. The clamping claw includes an activating member connected to the clamp assembly and configured to place the clamp assembly into a locked state in which the support surface and the support element both rest on the slide rail. The support element is moveable between a starting position and support position via the activating member. When the support element is in the support position, the clamp assembly is in the locked state. The clamping claw includes a locking mechanism to prevent movement of the activating member if the support element is in an intermediate position between the starting and support positions.
Apparatus providing extension of a surgical table width allowing adaptation to the parameters of the specific patient
A surgical table with independently extendable or foldable side extension platforms (side rails) allowing accommodation of patients with variable physical characteristics. Said surgical table side extension platforms may be operated manually or by electrical or pneumatic actuators and may be controlled by a local or a remote (wireline or wireless connected) controller.
RAIL GUIDE HAVING A SECURING UNIT, PATIENT TABLE HAVING A RAIL GUIDE FOR ACCESSORIES, AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A RAIL GUIDE
A securable rail guide contains a guide rail, a runner rail arranged in the guide rail and able to travel along the guide rail, and a securing unit which is embodied to fix the runner rail in position in the guide rail in a releasable manner. A locking unit is arranged on the guide rail and is embodied to secure the runner rail in a locked position, and an unlocking unit is arranged on the runner rail. The locking unit and the unlocking unit are parts of the securing unit. The unlocking unit is operatively connected to the locking unit such that an actuation of the unlocking unit releases the runner rail to allow a free movement along the guide rail. This configuration provides a separation of the locking and unlocking mechanisms, as a result of which an independent configuration of the stability of the overall locking mechanism is possible.
LIFT FOR EXTREMITY SURGICAL POSITIONING DEVICE
The present inventive subject matter describes a device and system for positioning, adjusting, and stretching a patient's extremity for surgical procedures where alignment is critical and minute adjustments may be required repeatedly. The device helps in maintaining the patient's extremity stationary, once the physician has selected the precise position for the elected procedure. The device uses using a combination of an articulating and a rotating frame, support plates and support rings that are attached to the extremity surgical positioning system. The system acts as a limb splint that is firmly attached to the surgical table. The support plates are attached to the patient via a series of adjustable straps preventing the extremity from moving independently of the support plate. A locking rack and gear configuration has adjustable locking pivot points that are positioned along and within the outer/inner proximal tube and outer/inner distal tube that lengthens or rotates various portions of the extremity.
