An apparatus for enrobing a product portion can include at least one polymer spray head adapted to create at least one flow of polymeric fibers to produce at least one polymer enrobing zone and a conveyor system adapted to move at least one product portion from at least one position below at least one polymer enrobing zone and to at least one position above at least one polymer enrobing zone to drop each product portion through one or more polymer enrobing zones a plurality times at different orientations to enrobe each product portion with polymeric fibers.

A fiber-wrapped smokeless tobacco product includes smokeless tobacco and a plurality of polymeric fibers surrounding the smokeless tobacco. The polymeric fibers can have a basis weight of 5 gsm or less and a diameter of less than 100 microns. In some cases, the polymeric fibers are melt-blown polymeric fibers. In some cases, the polymeric fibers are centrifugal force spun polymeric fibers. A method of preparing a fiber-wrapped smokeless tobacco product includes melt-blowing or centrifugal force spinning a plurality of polymeric fibers to create an polymer deposition zone and passing a body comprising smokeless tobacco through the polymer deposition zone. In some cases, an electrostatic charge can be applied to the plurality of polymeric fibers, the body, or a combination thereof. In some cases, a spin is applied to the body when passing through the polymer deposition zone.

Nonwoven material having discrete three-dimensional deformations with wide base openings that are base bonded to additional layer

A composite sheet that includes a first sheet and a second sheet is disclosed. The first and second sheets are bonded to each other at a number of spaced apart discrete inter-sheet bond locations. The first sheet is a nonwoven material that has discrete three-dimensional deformations therein forming protrusions that extend outward from the first surface of the first sheet to their distal ends and wide base openings adjacent to the second surface of the first sheet. The second sheet is a generally planar sheet that contacts the distal ends of the protrusions on the first sheet. The second sheet is bonded to the first sheet at spaced apart inter-sheet bond locations where the first region of the first sheet contacts the second sheet.

ABSORBABLE IMPLANTS FOR PLASTIC SURGERY

Absorbable implants for breast surgery that conform to the breast parenchyma and surrounding chest wall have been developed. These implants support newly lifted breast parenchyma, and/or a breast implant. The implants have mechanical properties sufficient to support a reconstructed breast, and allow the in-growth of tissue into the implant as it degrades. The implants have a strength retention profile allowing the support of the breast to be transitioned from the implant to regenerated host tissue, without significant loss of support. Three-dimensional implants for use in minimally invasive mastopexy/breast reconstruction procedures are also described, that confer shape to a patient's breast. These implants are self-reinforced, can be temporarily deformed, implanted in a suitably dissected tissue plane, and resume their preformed three-dimensional shape. The implants are preferably made from poly-4-hydroxybutyrate (P4HB) and copolymers thereof. The implants have suture pullout strengths that can resist the mechanical loads exerted on the reconstructed breast.

Nonwoven materials having a first region and a plurality of discrete integral second regions that are in the form of three-dimensional deformations forming protrusions that extend outward from the first surface of the nonwoven material and wide base openings adjacent to the second surface of the nonwoven material are disclosed. The nonwoven materials include at least two layers that are each formed of a plurality of fibers. The first region has a first light transmission value and the second regions have a second light transmission value.

An apparatus for forming deformations in a nonwoven web is disclosed. The apparatus includes a pair of forming members that form a nip therebetween. The forming members include: a first forming member having a surface comprising a plurality of discrete, spaced apart male forming elements; and a second forming member having a surface comprising a plurality of recesses in the second forming member, wherein the recesses are aligned and configured to receive the male forming elements therein, wherein the recesses have a plan view periphery that is larger than, and may completely surround, the plan view periphery of the male elements. At least one of the forming members has a plurality of discrete surface texture elements thereon.

Nonwoven materials having discrete three-dimensional deformations therein forming protrusions that extend outward from the first surface of the nonwoven material and wide base openings adjacent to the second surface of the nonwoven material are disclosed. The nonwoven materials include multiple fibers that extend from the base of the protrusions to the distal end of the protrusions, and contribute to form a portion of the sides and cap of a protrusion. Such fibers may at least substantially surround the sides of the protrusions.

Nonwoven materials having discrete three-dimensional deformations therein forming protrusions that extend outward from the first surface of the nonwoven material and wide base openings adjacent to the second surface of the nonwoven material are disclosed. The nonwoven materials are made of at least two layers that include at least a first nonwoven layer and a second nonwoven layer. Portions of the fibers in each layer form part of the undeformed first region, the side walls of the protrusions, and the distal ends of the protrusions. There may be differences in the concentration of fibers, or other properties, within at least one of the first and second layers in each of these parts of the deformed nonwoven material.
