A stitching system includes a jig capable of joining two shoe parts and capable of being used in an automated stitching machine. The jig includes a lower member capable of being operably coupled to the automated stitching machine and an upper member also capable of being operably coupled to the automated stitching machine. The two shoe parts are held in place between the lower member and the upper member. The lower member, the upper member and the two shoe parts therebetween are moved by the automated stitching machine in accordance with a pattern stored in the automated stitching machine.

Hopping foot for a maneuverable quilting machine. In some embodiments, an example hopping foot may include a presser bar shaft configured to couple to a presser bar and a base attached to the presser bar shaft. The base may define a left straight edge, a right straight edge, a front straight edge, a bottom surface configured to hop onto and off of a fabric, and a needle opening configured to allow a needle to reciprocate into and out of the fabric through the needle opening.

A presser foot device includes a wall portion, a pair of opposed portions, a pin, and an abutting portion. The wall portion extends in a first direction and a second direction intersecting the first direction. The pair of opposed portions extend in one direction of a third direction intersecting the first direction and the second direction from the wall portion, and face each other. The pin extends in the second direction between the pair of opposed portions, and engages with a groove provided in the presser foot holder. The abutting portion is provided with respect to the pin on one direction side of the first direction, and is provided on the one direction side of the third direction of an end surface in the one direction of the third direction, of the pair of opposed portions. The abutting portion abuts against the pressor foot holder in the second direction.

A presser foot device includes a wall portion, a pair of opposed portions, a pin, and an abutting portion. The wall portion extends in a first direction and a second direction intersecting the first direction. The pair of opposed portions extend in one direction of a third direction intersecting the first direction and the second direction from the wall portion, and face each other. The pin extends in the second direction between the pair of opposed portions, and engages with a groove provided in the presser foot holder. The abutting portion is provided with respect to the pin on one direction side of the first direction, and is provided on the one direction side of the third direction of an end surface in the one direction of the third direction, of the pair of opposed portions. The abutting portion abuts against the pressor foot holder in the second direction.

A sewing system comprises a sewing machine, a camera that captures an image of a reference position for sewing, a robot arm that holds the sewing machine and the camera, and a controller. The controller controls operations of forming a first stitch position that results from stitching of the sewing machine, and forming a second stitch position that results from stitching of the sewing machine after rotating the sewing machine at a prescribed angle about a rotation axis that passes through a needle center position stored by the controller. The controller further performs calibration processing that calibrates the needle center position stored by the controller, based on each position of the first stitch position and the second stitch position within image capture ranges of capture images that are obtained by capturing images of the first stitch position and the second stitch position using the camera.

A cloth pressing device of a sewing machine has a presser leg and a presser foot. The presser leg is a hollow cylinder and has a combining portion and a sleeve portion. The sleeve portion is integrated with a bottom portion of the combining portion. The presser foot is mounted around and fixed with a bottom portion of the presser leg. The presser foot has a surrounding portion and a pressing portion. The surrounding portion is a U-shaped block and has a front end and two free ends. The pressing portion is formed at the front end of the surrounding portion.

A cloth pressing device of a sewing machine has a presser leg and a presser foot. The presser leg is a hollow cylinder and has a combining portion and a sleeve portion. The sleeve portion is integrated with a bottom portion of the combining portion. The presser foot is mounted around and fixed with a bottom portion of the presser leg. The presser foot has a surrounding portion and a pressing portion. The surrounding portion is a U-shaped block and has a front end and two free ends. The pressing portion is formed at the front end of the surrounding portion.

A presser foot for a sewing machine has a bottom wall, first and second side walls, and a guard piece. The bottom wall has front and rear ends. In addition, the bottom wall is provided with a needle-passing hole and a first slit extending from the needle-passing hole to the front end. The first side wall and the second side wall are formed integral with the bottom wall and spaced apart from each other in a width direction of the bottom wall. The guard piece is attached to the first side wall to cover the gap between the first side wall and the second side wall from above. In plan view, the guard piece is spaced from the needle-passing hole and does not overlap with the needle-passing hole. The guard piece and the second side wall are spaced apart from each other by a second slit.

A sewing machine includes a driving unit, a throat plate, a pressing unit, a detecting unit and a control unit. The detecting unit includes a housing mounted to a connecting module of the pressing unit, a track ball rotatably disposed on the housing, and adapted for contact with a fabric placed on the throat plate, and a plurality of Hall-effect sensors disposed in the housing such that, when the fabric is moved on the throat plate, the track ball rotates relative to the fabric and the housing, so that a rotational speed of the track ball is detected by the Hall-effect sensors. The control unit is disposed for controlling a moving speed of a needle bar of the driving unit corresponding to the rotational speed of the track ball.
