The present disclosure provides for an alignment device used in sewing projects, such as the construction of an inseam. The alignment device may comprise at least one tip, at least one sleeve, and one or more holes. When the alignment device comprises one or more holes, the one or more holes may allow for storage on a wall or other surface via an external hook or knob. The alignment device may further comprise one or more extensions. When the alignment device comprises one or more extensions, the one or more extensions may be coupled to the alignment device via at least one extension mechanism. One alignment device may interface with other alignment devices in a nesting alignment system. When a nesting alignment system is implemented, one or more of the alignment devices may comprise a recess to house at least one smaller alignment device therein for storage purposes. The alignment device may comprise a plastic, wooden, vinyl, or magnetic material, or any combination thereof.

A sewing machine includes a material sandwiching unit to sandwich two materials having annular edges from above and below while they are stacked so that the material on an inner wheel side is located on the lower side and the material on an outer wheel side is located on the upper side, wherein a part of the material sandwiching unit located above the two materials is vertically movable, the material sandwiching unit includes a curl-removing mechanism to straighten curls occurring on the edges of the two materials, the material sandwiching unit includes inclined parts that serve as the curl-removing mechanism and have edges extending backward from a farther side of the edges toward the edge side at a position where the two materials pass therethrough, and the inclined parts have air ejectors to eject air so as to form airflows that straighten portions of the materials where curls have occurred.

A pillow template system having at least one pillow template which is preferably made of a transparent or semi-transparent material which can be overlaid onto a piece of fabric and can quickly and easily be aligned on the fabric such that any patterns on the fabric are aligned in a desirable way. The template is a frame having an inner edge and an outer edge, with the width of the frame between the inner and outer edges providing a preferable seam allowance. In a preferred embodiment the frame can be nested into a stack with one or more additional frames. The size and shape of the pillow can vary based upon a selected one of the nested frames.
