Article with Directional Tensioning
An article of footwear with an upper including a ribbon structure is disclosed. The ribbon structure comprises ribbon sections running in at least two different directions. Ribbon sections are connected at nodes that may move substantially independently of other nodes. The ribbon structure can provide strength along one of the directions and may simultaneously remain slack in the other direction.

Article with ribbon structure having nodes and links
An article of footwear with an upper including a ribbon structure is disclosed. The ribbon structure comprises ribbon sections running in at least two different directions. Ribbon sections are connected at nodes. Between nodes portions of ribbon act like links joining the nodes. The links can be arranged in various geometries, including a rectangular grid and a triaxial grid. The ribbon structure may extend the entire length of the article of footwear, and may extend through a forefoot, midfoot and heel.
Method of Making Article with Ribbon Structure and Embroidered Edges
A method of making an article of footwear with an upper including a ribbon structure is disclosed. The method includes laying down ribbon elements in straight and winding sections. The method includes stitching or otherwise attaching the ribbon elements to a backing layer. The method also includes embroidering a periphery of the ribbon structure to tack down any raised portions of the ribbon at the periphery. The method also includes inserting a lace through loops in the ribbon structure.
BELT LOOP FOR WOMEN'S CLOTHES AND METHOD FOR SEWING SAME
The present invention relates to a belt loop for women's clothes and a method for sewing the same, wherein a belt loop has a structure in which both ends of the loop comprising multi-strand twisted yarns are connected to an integral piece or separate pieces of cloth for sewing, so that, when the front and back parts or the top and bottom parts of a garment are sewn with each other in a garment manufacturing process, the piece(s) of cloth for sewing can be sewn together therewith, and thus the belt loop can be formed simultaneously with the garment manufacturing process, which leads to process simplification and garment manufacturing cost reduction.

Fly Edgestitching Apparatus
An edge stitching device for a fly includes a table on which the fly is placed, a clamping device which sandwiches the fly in cooperation with the table, a sewing machine which edge-stitches an edge of a fly body, a cutter provided in the sewing machine and cut the fly body to form the curved side, and a clamping device conveying device which conveys the clamping device in a sandwiched state. The clamping device conveying device continuously performs: pre-edge-stitching conveyance, in which the clamping device is linearly conveyed toward the sewing machine in a state where the fly is sandwiched before edge stitching; and edge stitching conveyance, in which the clamping device is conveyed in a state where the fly is sandwiched during the edge stitching. In the edge stitching conveyance, the clamping device is conveyed in accordance with a shape of the curved side formed by the cutter.
CONTROLLING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SEWING MACHINE, AND SEWING MACHINE
The present invention aims to speed up of processing necessary at the time of switching between different sewing operation modes. Sewing data supply means supplies sewing data having mixed therein data indicative of different sewing operation modes. The sewing machine sews, based on the sewing data, a string-shaped material to a workpiece with different sewing operation modes mixed. A control device for the sewing machine includes a quick shift process means that controls, at a boundary between the different sewing operation modes and depending on a difference between the sewing operation modes immediately preceding and succeeding the boundary, whether to execute a process for shifting to the succeeding sewing operation mode while keeping a main shaft of the sewing machine rotating (rapid process) or to execute the process for shifting to the succeeding sewing operation mode after temporarily stopping the rotation of the main shaft (normal shift process).

FIBER PRECURSOR
The present invention provides an improved fiber precursor, and methods for employing such to enhance the structural reinforcement of composite structures. The precursor is comprised of one or more fibrous filaments positioned within the precursor so that the filaments within each fiber are oriented at an angle offset from the axis of the length of the precursor. The offset of these filaments can be accomplished, for example, by twisting a plurality of filaments into a continuous spiral to form the precursor, or by wrapping a collection of colinear filaments about a central core, or by braiding plurality of filaments to form the precursor. The angle of offset at which the twisted, braided or wrapped fibers are positioned can be varied as a function of the twisting, braiding or wrapping process (angle of wrap, tension upon the twisting or wrapping fibers, degree of rotational twisting applied to the fibers per length of precursor, etc.). The offset angle can be arbitrarily chosen to achieve the desired shear properties based upon the particular composite structure, the manufacturing method(s) being employed, and the environment in which the precursor will be utilized.
