A coffin for use in the containment and storage of a human or animal corpse. The coffin comprises; a tubular housing comprising a wall defining an internal space; the wall formed from a cellulose fibre material and capable of retaining the corpse in the internal space. The coffin further comprises a part which receives and retains a body when in use. The invention is essentially a cylindrical, tubular form, to form a receptacle to serve as a cremation/burial vessel, free of corners, angles and sharp edges and manufactured from a biodegradable material. The invention contemplates use of screwspreferably stainless steel to secure those elements such as the end walls which require releasable fixation. One suitable non-toxic biodegradable material is recycled cellulose fibre such as cardboard or used paper products. Other materials used in construction of the invention include, plantation timber framing, plywood end closures, screw fixation, water based adhesive as required, nontoxic water based paint, and quantities of water based craft adhesive.

A casket may include a casket shell, at least one casket cap pivotally mounted on the casket shell, and a cap panel assembly mounted in the at least one casket cap. The cap panel assembly may include a cap panel, a puffing member attached to each edge of the cap panel, and a cap panel insert. The cap panel insert is fastened to the cap panel using pins. The cap panel insert can include a frame, fabric, filler, and a backing board. The cap panel insert can include elastic or ribbon-shaped straps positioned on a front face of the cap panel insert. The elastic or ribbon-shaped straps can be positioned in a lattice or grid-like arrangement. The cap panel insert can include a mounting bracket or a screw and wire assembly for mounting the cap panel insert on a wall.

Backer Board for Casket Interior Arrangement

A casket includes a casket body, at least a first lid, and a backer board. The casket body is configured to receive an adult human body in the supine position. The lid has a first bottom interior ledge defining a first nook in an underside of the lid, and a second bottom interior ledge defining a second nook in the underside of the lid. The backer board is formed of a pliable material, and includes a center wall having a first edge and an opposite second edge. The backer board also includes a first side wall extending away from the first edge, and a second side wall extending away from the second edge. The first side wall and the second side wall are configured to engage, respectively, the first and second nooks, under a tension configured to hold the center wall in a predetermined position.

Coffin for holding an inner coffin and having a base and a cover

A coffin is constructed to hold an inner coffin for holding the mortal remains therein or thereon. The inner coffin has a bottom, opposing first and second ends and opposing first and second sides extending in a longitudinal direction of the inner coffin between the first and second ends. The coffin comprises a base for supporting the inner coffin; and a cover to provide at least partial covering of the inner coffin when arranged on the base. The coffin allows displacement of the inner coffin over the base by allowing passage of the inner coffin from the base at one end or side. The coffin further allows access to at least one other one of the ends and sides of the inner coffin from lateral directions along a support plane comprising the bottom of the inner coffin for getting hold on the inner coffin to move it along the support plane over the base in the direction of the one of the ends and sides of the inner coffin.

Cap panel shelf

A casket may include a casket shell, at least one casket cap pivotally mounted on the casket shell, a cap panel inserted in a cavity formed by a bottom surface of the at least one casket cap, a plurality of puffing members attached to the edges of the cap panel, and a cap panel shelf mounted on the bottom surface of the casket cap. The cap panel shelf may be mounted on the casket cap by using wooden dowels. The cap panel shelf may be mounted on the casket cap by using mounting brackets positioned in between a puffing member on the bottom edge of the cap panel and the cap panel. A hinged support may be fastened to the bottom surface of the cap panel shelf to retain the cap panel shelf at a desired position.

A motorized coffin lid device for remotely opening a lid of the casket includes a coffin having a bottom wall and a peripheral wall that is attached to and extends upwardly from the bottom wall to define an interior space. The peripheral wall has an upper edge to define an opening into the interior space. A lid is pivotably coupled to the upper edge to selectively open and close the opening. A motor is coupled to the coffin and positioned in the interior space. A lift mechanism is coupled to the motor. The motor actuates the lift mechanism to pivot the lid and to selectively open and close the opening. A power source is electrically coupled to the motor.
