Laundry treating apparatus
A laundry treating apparatus comprising a tub; a drum mounted in the tub; a passage provided in the drum and configured to allow water to flow from a first portion of the drum to a second portion of the drum; an agitator rotatably provided in the drum and configured to agitate the water held in the drum; and a filter device configured to filter the water flowing through the passage, wherein the filter includes a body defining a storage space; an inlet configured to allow water into the body from the passage; a filter provided in the body and configured to filter foreign substances from the water drawn into the body and release the water into the drum; and a plurality of projections projected from the body and configured to hold the filtered foreign substances to the body, wherein a cross-sectional area of the projected unit is 25% to 50% of a cross sectional area of the body area.
LAUNDRY SYSTEMS
A laundry system can include a rotational motion chamber configured to be actuated rotationally and an agitation chamber configured to receive one or more washable articles. The agitation chamber can be disposed within the rotational motion chamber. The agitation chamber can be configured to be actuated linearly within the rotational motion chamber independent of the rotational motion chamber in a first state, and can be configured to be engaged to and rotated by the rotational motion chamber in a second state.
Collapsible agitator assembly
A collapsible agitator assembly includes an impeller that is attachable to a drive shaft of a washing machine to rotate clothing in the washing machine for washing. A first agitator tube is attachable to the drive shaft of the washing machine to agitate water in the washing machine for washing. The first agitator tube is retractable into the impeller. A bushing extends upwardly through the first agitator tube. A second agitator tube is attachable to the bushing and the second agitator tube is retractable inside of the first agitator tube to accommodate a small load of laundry. The second agitator tube is extendable upwardly from the first agitator tube to accommodate a large load of laundry.
Method to determine fabric type in a laundry treating appliance using motor current signature during agitation
Disclosed is a method of operating a laundry treating appliance having a treating chamber that receives a laundry load for treatment according to a cycle of operation. The method includes determining the size of the laundry load in the treating chamber; supplying a predetermined amount of liquid to the treating chamber based on the determined load size; applying mechanical energy to the laundry treating chamber by driving a clothes mover with an electric motor; determining a difference between an in-rush current to the electric motor and a steady-state current of the electric motor during the applying of the mechanical energy; and determining a laundry load type of the laundry load based on the determined difference.
