A laundry treatment apparatus includes: a tub; a drum configured to rotate within the tub and to receive laundry therein; and an induction module provided at an outer surface of the tub and configured to heat the drum via induction using a magnetic field generated by applying current to a coil formed by a wire that is wound within the induction module. The induction module includes a base housing configured to accommodate the coil, the base housing being mounted on the outer surface of the tub. The coil is formed with the wire being wound around within the base housing, and includes a straight portion and a curved portion, with a first radius of curvature of an inner coil portion of the curved portion of the coil being the same as a second radius of curvature of an outer coil portion of the curved portion of the coil.

A laundry drying apparatus, in particular dryer or washing machine having drying function, has: a cabinet, a control unit (4) adapted to control a laundry drying cycle according to at least one drying program, a drum (18) rotatably arranged within the cabinet for receiving laundry to be dried, a drying air channel (20) adapted at least to guide drying air into the drum (18), and a heater unit (6) arranged at or in the drying air channel (20) and being adapted to heat the drying air. The heater unit (6) has two or more heating levels. A temperature sensor unit is adapted to detect the temperature of the drying air and to provide at least one temperature signal to the control unit (4). The control unit (4) is adapted to control the heater unit (6) to heat the drying air at a selected one of the two or more heating levels. The control unit (4) is adapted to select or determine and apply during the drying cycle one of two or more temperature threshold sets, wherein the two or more temperature threshold sets are used by the control unit (4) for determining the heating level to be applied by the heater unit (6) in dependency of the at least one temperature signal from the temperature sensor unit. The control unit (4) is adapted to select or determine one of the two or more temperature threshold sets in dependency of one or more operating parameters of the apparatus, wherein the temperature thresholds of the temperature threshold sets are mutually different or are not identical. During execution of the laundry drying cycle the control unit (4) is adapted to select or determine one of the two or more temperature threshold sets in dependency of one or more of the following operation parameters: a) the time or temporal progress of the laundry drying cycle, b) one or more operation parameters of or for the heater unit (6), c) an electrical or mechanical parameter of the drum (18) motor, d) a temporal gradient of the drying air temperature during execution of the laundry drying cycle, and e) an ambient temperature indicative for the temperature outside the apparatus cabinet or a temperature indicative of an apparatus component temperature.

The control method includes supplying water to a first chamber (C1), turning a heater (83) on, wherein power is supplied to the heater (83) to heat the heater (83) at a third temperature so as to generate steam, preventing overheating, wherein power supplied to the heater is cut at a first temperature so as to prevent overheating of the heater, and determining scale, wherein power supplied to the heater (83) is cut at a second temperature lower than the first temperature and then is resupplied after a predetermined time so as to prevent malfunction of the overheating prevention, wherein, when a time interval for the temperature of the heater to rise from the third temperature to the first temperature is within a predetermined time, determining scale is not performed.

A method includes obtaining a plurality of temperature readings during each operation of the dryer appliance by intermittently measuring a temperature of inlet air to the dryer appliance. The method further includes obtaining a heater status for a heater of the dryer assembly during each measurement of the temperature. The method further includes estimating an effective opening size in the dryer appliance during each operation of the dryer appliance based on the temperature and heater status for each of the plurality of temperature readings.

A water-conducting electrical device having a water receiving element, an electrochemical cell having electrodes and designed to produce a bleaching agent when it contains a salt-containing solution and a DC voltage is applied to the electrodes, a pump designed to convey fluid located in the electrochemical cell out of the electrochemical cell into the water receiving element, and a control unit configured to selectively apply both DC voltage and AC voltage to the electrodes of the electrochemical cell. A method for operating the water-conducting electrical device includes feeding a salt-containing solution into the electrochemical cell, applying DC voltage to the electrodes of the electrochemical cell for a predetermined period of time in order to produce the bleaching agent in the electrochemical cell, applying AC voltage to the electrodes of the electrochemical cell for a predetermined period of time in order to heat fluid located in the electrochemical cell, and conveying the fluid out of the electrochemical cell into the water receiving element.

A washing and/or drying appliance circuit system having an electric load, first and second power supply terminals, first and second switching elements operable for coupling/decoupling the power supply terminals to terminals of the electric load, a control unit for operating the switching elements, and a conditioning arrangement. The conditioning arrangement has a unidirectional signal flow element coupled between the first supply terminal for receiving a supply signal and the second load terminal, and an impedance arrangement coupled between the first load terminal and the control unit. With the first and second switching elements in the opened-states the first supply terminal, the unidirectional signal flow element, the electric load and the impedance arrangement define a conductive path providing a check signal to the control unit. The control unit is configured for determining a fault in the circuit system based on the check signal.
