BED DEVICE
20220347029 · 2022-11-03 · ·

A bed device includes: an operation section that receives an operation input; a controller that controls a movement of the bed in accordance with the operation input; a detector that detects a position of a patient on the bed; and, a limitation table that stores a limitation area set on the bed in association with a limitation content, wherein when the position of the patient detected by the detector is included in the limitation area, the limitation content is read out from the limitation table so as to control the controller in accordance with the limitation content. With this configuration, it is possible to provide a higher safety bed device which can not only notify the danger based on the bed movement but also limit the movement of the bed in accordance with the status of the patient or the bed device.

WHEELCHAIR BRAKE SYSTEM

A wheelchair brake system comprises: a brake which is provided in a wheel of a wheelchair; and a brake actuation controller which connects with the brake and locks and releases the brake, wherein the brake is usually in a lock mode, but the brake actuation controller controls the brake to be switched over from the lock mode to a release mode if sensing that a user sits down on the wheelchair or the wheelchair is folded up.

PATIENT LIFT ORTHOSIS

A patient lift orthosis system including an input controller and at least one orthosis. The at least one orthosis including an upper orthosis assembly and a lower orthosis assembly rotatably attached to the upper orthosis assembly via a joint. The at least one orthosis further including an output controller attached to at least one of the upper orthosis assembly, the lower orthosis assembly, and the joint, the output controller being in communication with the input controller. The at least one orthosis further including an actuator attached to at least one of the upper orthosis assembly, the lower orthosis assembly, and the joint, the actuator being in communication with the output controller. The output controller is configured to actuate the actuator to rotate one of the upper orthosis assembly and the lower orthosis assembly about the joint based upon an input communicated from the input controller.

APPARATUS AND METHOD OF MANAGING PRESSURE INJURIES
20220054338 · 2022-02-24 ·

A process (and apparatus) of managing pressure injuries provides a two-dimensional array of expandable, compressible cells. Each cell has a contact surface with an associated contact pressure, and the array of cells includes a given cell with a given contact surface and at least one cell adjacent to the given cell (“adjacent cell”). A controller expands the array of cells. The process also monitors the contact pressure of a body on the contact surface and detects a given contact pressure exceeding or equal to a predetermined threshold contact pressure. The controller may produce a pressure reduction response when determining that the given contact pressure exceeds or equals the predetermined threshold contact pressure. This automatically causes the controller to modify the internal air pressure of the given cell and the internal air pressure of the adjacent cell.

Bed-leaving sensor and bed-leaving detection method

A bed-leaving sensor for detecting bed-leaving by a user on a bed, including: a sitting position detection member that detects a sitting position of the user based on a detection value of a pressure sensor arranged on the bed; and a bed-leaving behavior detection member that detects bed-leaving behavior of the user with at least one of the following as a condition: (i) the sitting position being detected within a preset bed-leaving expectation region, (ii) a movement volume of a sitting position center of gravity which is a center of gravity of the sitting position exceeding a given threshold value within a given time, and (iii) the sitting position center of gravity moving toward a preset bed-leaving range.

PATIENT SUPPORT PAD

A support pad, including a first cushion layer, a second cushion layer, and a sensing device, is provided. The sensing device is positioned between the first and second cushion layers. The sensing device includes a plurality of sensing elements and a substrate. The substrate includes a plurality of tab portions and a plurality of expandable portions. The sensing elements are respectively mounted to the tab portions. The expandable portions are moveable between contracted and expanded positions in response to pressure applied thereto.

Patient support system control using radar

A patient immersion sensor includes a radio detection and ranging (RADAR) apparatus to determine a time of flight (TOF) of a RADAR pulse and a reflected signal that is reflected by a patient or by a portion of a patient support surface supporting the patient. The TOF is indicative of an immersion depth or a distance toward bottoming out of a patient supported on the patient support surface, such as a mattress or a pad. The RADAR apparatus emits pulses of very short duration so as to be able to detect objects, such as a patient or a portion of a mattress or pad, at very close distances. The RADAR apparatus may use time-of-flight (TOF) between transmission of the pulse and receipt of a reflected signal to determine a distance toward bottoming out by the patient, thereby to determine if the patient is properly immersed into the patient support surface. Adjustments to inflation or deflation of one or more bladders are made to achieve a desired immersion amount within a tolerance range between upper and lower TOF thresholds.

Patient/invalid handling support

A patient support for supporting a patient includes an inflatable mattress defining a support surface and a pneumatic system for inflating the inflatable mattress. The pneumatic system includes a pressurized reservoir for holding pressurized air and selectively releases pressurized air from the reservoir to the mattress.

Multi-zone adjustable bed with smart adjustment mechanism

A smart sleep system comprising a mattress including a plurality of pressure zones, each pressure zone separately adjustable for firmness, a sensor to sense a user's position on the mattress, a processing system to determine pressure for each of the plurality of pressure zones based on data from the sensor, and a controller to adjust one or more of the pressure zones based on the determination.
