Appliance monitoring sensors
Sensor units that includes a power source, a communication interface, and a sensor coupled to the power source and the communication interface. The sensor is calibrated to connect the power source to the communication interface upon an occurrence of a condition in an appliance. The sensor, thereby, permits the communication interface to transmit data indicating the condition to a computing device. Methods, systems, and apparatus, for monitoring such sensor units.
CLOTHES TREATING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to a clothes treating apparatus including a drum, a door to open and close the drum, an opening/closing switch to output a signal in response to opening or closing of the drum by the door, a motor to rotate the drum, a controller to generate a control command for controlling a rotational speed of the motor, a driving device including an inverter to convert power applied to the motor and an inverter driver to output a control signal of the inverter in response to the generated control command, and a protection switch connected between the opening/closing switch and the inverter driver to be turned on or off by the signal output by the opening/closing switch, wherein the inverter driver turns off the inverter when a voltage applied by the protection switch is less than or equal to a reference voltage.
ADJUSTED OPERATION OF A COMBINATION WASHER/DRYER APPLIANCE
A combination washer/dryer appliance may include a cabinet, a tub, a laundry basket, a heater, and a controller. The laundry basket may be rotatably mounted within the tub and define a chamber for receipt of articles for washing or drying. The controller may be operably coupled to the heater and configured to initiate a wash/dry operation. The wash/dry operation may include initiating a wash/dry operation for articles within the laundry basket. The wash/dry operation may include a wash cycle and a dry cycle. The wash/dry operation may further include determining completion of the wash cycle and directing a tumble cycle of the laundry basket in response to determining completion of the wash cycle. The wash/dry operation may still further include determining a user drying preference during the tumble cycle of the laundry basket and adjusting the wash/dry operation based on the determined user drying preference.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING GARMENT PROCESSING DEVICE
The present disclosure relates to a method for controlling a garment processing device, the method comprising: a foreign-material separating step of rotating a drum rotatably provided inside a tub that stores water such that friction occurs between garments inside the drum and the water; a drain step of discharging the water inside the tub to the outside of the tub; a first maintenance step of maintaining the rate of rotation of the drum, after same has reached a preconfigured first rate, at the first rate; a first measurement step of measuring the degree of imbalance occurring in the drum while the drum rotates at the first rate; a second maintenance step of increasing the rate of rotation of the drum to a predetermined second rate, if a first measured value measured in the first measurement step is equal to/below a preconfigured first reference value, and then maintaining same at the second rate; a second measurement step of measuring the degree of imbalance occurring in the drum while the drum rotates at the second rate; stopping the drum from rotating if a second measured value measured in the second measurement step is equal to/below a preconfigured second reference value; and a dewatering step of accelerating the drum to a third rate configured to be higher than the second rate, thereby removing water from the garments. The dewatering step is stopped if the degree of imbalance of the drum measured during the drum is accelerated to the third rate is larger than a predetermined imbalance reference value, and the imbalance reference value is configured on the basis of the second measured value.
WASH ARTICLE ENTRAPMENT DETECTION FOR LAUNDRY WASHING MACHINES
A method for detecting entrapment of an article between a laundry machine door and bellows, comprising: identifying a maximum startup motor torque value of the drum motor while accelerating the drum from a stop to a target rotation speed; identifying a maximum operating motor torque value while rotating the drum at the target rotation speed; comparing a difference between the maximum startup motor torque value and the maximum operating motor torque value to a predetermined torque difference value; and terminating operation if the difference exceeds the predetermined torque difference value. A laundry washing machine configured to perform the method is also provided.
WASH ARTICLE ENTRAPMENT DETECTION FOR LAUNDRY WASHING MACHINES
A method for detecting entrapment of an article within a laundry washing machine. The method includes rotating the drum to a target rotation speed, determining a respective drum motor torque value for each rotation, determining a distribution characteristic value of the drum motor torque values, comparing the distribution characteristic value to a predetermined threshold value, performing a correction operation to address an entrapment condition upon determining that the distribution characteristic value is above the predetermined threshold value, and proceeding with the laundry washing cycle upon determining that the distribution characteristic value is below the predetermined threshold value.
WATER TEMPERATURE EVALUATION METHOD USING A HUMIDITY SENSOR IN A LAUNDRY APPLIANCE
A laundry appliance includes a basket rotatably mounted within a cabinet and defining a chamber configured for receiving a load of clothes, a water supply valve for regulating a flow of water into the chamber, and a humidity sensor positioned within the cabinet for monitoring a chamber humidity. A controller is configured to determine that the water supply valve is open to permit the flow of water into the chamber, identify an anticipated humidity within the chamber based at least in part on the water supply valve being open, obtain the chamber humidity using the humidity sensor, and implementing a responsive action if the chamber humidity does not correspond to the anticipated humidity.
METHOD AND CONTROL UNIT FOR OPERATING A CLEANING APPLIANCE FOR A PRETREATMENT AND MAIN TREATMENT OF TEXTILES, AND CLEANING APPLIANCE
A cleaning appliance and method for operating a cleaning appliance with a rotatable, non-ribbed drum for the pre-treatment and main treatment of textiles. The method comprises a step of supplying a feed signal for feeding a cleaning liquid into a suds container until a predetermined initial fill level is reached. A saturation action causes the textiles to be pre-treated to be saturated with the cleaning liquid. The method includes reading in a fill level signal that represents a fill level of the cleaning liquid, and supplying a further feed signal for feeding the cleaning liquid into the suds container until a target fill level is reached. A motion signal causes a rocking rhythm of the drum for pre-treating the textiles to be pre-treated. After the pre-treatment, an unlocking of a drum door takes place in order to allow additional textiles to be added for a main treatment of the textiles.
LAUNDRY APPLIANCE WITH ADAPTIVE DRYING CYCLE BASED ON LOAD SIZE AND LOAD TYPE
A laundry appliance is configured for and/or methods of operating a laundry appliance include determining a load size of articles to be dried in the laundry appliance and determining a load type of the articles to be dried in the laundry appliance. A termination criterion for a dry operation of the laundry appliance is determined based on the load size and the load type. The laundry appliance is further configured for and/or the method further includes performing the dry operation in the laundry appliance. The dry operation is terminated when the termination criterion is reached.
RESPONSIVE SOAK TIME IN A WASHING MACHINE APPLIANCE
A method of operating a washing machine appliance includes filling a wash tub with a wash liquid during a first cycle. The method also includes receiving a pause input after filling the wash tub and before draining the wash tub during the first cycle. In response to the pause input, the first cycle is paused for a pause duration. The method further includes incrementing a pause counter in response to the pause input and storing the pause duration after pausing the first cycle. The method also includes filling the wash tub with a wash liquid during a second cycle after the first cycle and automatically pausing the second cycle after filling the wash tub with the wash liquid during the second cycle, based on the pause counter and the stored pause duration
