LAUNDRY TREATING APPARATUS
20220064837 · 2022-03-03 ·

A laundry treating apparatus include a tub, a water supply, a drum, and a rotator including a bottom portion positioned on a bottom surface of the drum, and a pillar protruding upward from the bottom portion, and a blade disposed on an outer circumferential surface of the pillar. The controller controls a driver such that the rotator performs a distribution motion after a water supply process and a washing motion after the distribution motion. An amount of rotation of the rotator in the distribution motion is less than an amount of rotation of the rotator in the washing motion. A driving load of the driver is reduced by reducing a moment of inertia acting on the rotator by separating laundry from the rotator. With the reduced driving load, the driver may be easily controlled, and a water flow for washing may be efficiently formed.

FAULT DETECTION FOR A WATER LEVEL DETECTION SYSTEM OF A WASHING MACHINE APPLIANCE
20220018055 · 2022-01-20 ·

A washing machine appliance includes a sump for collecting wash fluid, a drain pump for discharging the wash fluid from the sump, and a water level detection system fluidly coupled to the sump. A controller is configured for monitoring the electric current drawn by the drain pump during a drain cycle and determining that the sump is empty based on a drop in the electric current. The controller then measures the sump pressure and determines that a fault condition exists with the water level detection system when the sump is empty and the sump pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure threshold, e.g., zero pressure corresponding to an empty sump.

System and method for dynamically adjusting dryer belt speed

A dynamically adjustable textile dryer and method of controlling a conveyor belt speed of the textile dryer is provided. The speed of the belt is utilized to more quickly adjust the temperature of the drying chamber.

A laundry treating apparatus may comprise a cabinet that defines an exterior design; a drum rotatably mounted in the cabinet and configured to accommodate laundry; a drive unit or motor configured to rotate the drum; a hot air supply unit or hot air blower configured to supply high-temperature air to the drum and in communication with the drum; a collection portion or liquid chamber provided to collect water condensed from the drum and in communication with the hot air supply unit; and a drainage pump configured to discharge the water collected in the collection portion outside the cabinet such that the laundry treating apparatus may sense whether the condensate collected in the collection portion is frozen and thaw the frozen condensate. A control method of the laundry treating apparatus may be provided to thaw and operate the laundry treating apparatus.

DRAIN PUMP DRIVING APPARATUS AND LAUNDRY TREATMENT MACHINE INCLUDING THE SAME
20210234494 · 2021-07-29 ·

The present disclosure relates to a drain pump driving apparatus and a laundry treatment machine including the same. A drain pump driving apparatus according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a converter; an inverter to output converted AC voltage to a drain pump motor; an output current detector to detect an output current flowing in the motor; and a controller to control the inverter, wherein in case in which the speed of the motor increases and the output current flowing in the motor decreases during a predetermined period among an operation period of the drain motor, the controller controls the inverter to be turned off. Accordingly, it is possible to protect internal circuit elements in case the motor loses its synchronism.

METHOD OF USING IMAGE RECOGNITION PROCESSES FOR IMPROVED OPERATION OF A LAUNDRY APPLIANCE
20210230783 · 2021-07-29 ·

A washing machine appliance includes a wash tub defining a wash chamber, a wash basket rotatably mounted within the wash tub, and a camera mounted within the cabinet in view of the wash chamber. A controller is operably coupled to the camera for obtaining images of the load of clothes in the wash chamber and analyzing the images using a neural network image recognition process (such as a Mask R-CNN process) to determine a load characteristic of the load of clothes. The load characteristic can then be used to adjust at least one operating parameter of the washing machine appliance based on the load characteristic, e.g., for improved or optimized wash performance.

Garment care device

The present disclosure relates to a garment care device. The garment care device may include a housing and a garment bag. The garment bag can be disposed around a frame and attached to the housing. The garment bag can receive air along a first air flow from the housing and a mixture of steam and a chemical in a second air flow from the housing during a freshening process. A safety puck can engage to a fastener allowing for opening and secure closure of the garment bag and magnetically engage to an interface.

LAUNDRY DRYER AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME
20210277587 · 2021-09-09 ·

A laundry dryer performs a method for drying laundry with steam or hot air and notifying a user of water shortage. The laundry dryer includes a cabinet, a drum, a steam unit, a storage tank, a supply pump, and a steam controller. The steam controller operates the steam unit upon receiving a steam supply command to supply steam to the drum. When a water level of water stored in at least one of the steam unit or the storage tank is equal to or less than a predetermined water level, the steam controller provides a water shortage notification message for user recognition. The laundry dryer provides the water shortage notification message when a minimum amount of residual water is stored in the storage tank. The number of times to refill the storage tank can be minimized, resulting in an increase in user convenience.
