PATIENT SUPPORT WITH DECK WIDTH MONITORING AND CONTROL
A patient support, such as a bed, a cot, a stretcher, or the like, for supporting an occupant includes sensors adapted to detect a status of the patient support, such as the width of the width-adjustable patient support component or the locked or unlocked state of the patient support component. A control system for the patient support is configured to determine if the patient support is in an unacceptable status, such as an unacceptable width configuration or an unlocked state, based on the sensed status. The control system is adapted to issue an alert or take action or prompt a caregiver to take an action if the patient support status is unacceptable.
Toilet with Lid for Sealing Bowl for Analysis and Washing
An analytical toilet comprising a bowl for receiving excreta from a user; and a lid adapted to cover the bowl and form an airtight seal between the bowl and the lid forming a sealed chamber; and at least one fluid outlet for cleaning the bowl is disclosed.
PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS WITH LOAD CELL ASSEMBLIES
A patient support apparatus comprising a patient support deck and a base to support the patient support deck from a ground surface, with a first frame assembly comprising a plurality of wheels to facilitate movement of the base, and a second frame assembly with one or more lift arms coupling the base to the second frame assembly. A load cell assembly to sense weight applied to the first frame assembly by the second frame assembly comprises a load cell support assembly coupled to the first frame assembly, and a load cell element coupled to the second frame assembly and mounted onto the load cell support assembly such that the second frame assembly is movable with respect to the first frame assembly along two axes of translation and is pivotable with respect to the first frame assembly about three axes of rotation.
AUTOMATED ORTHOSTATIC HYPOTENSION ASSESSMENT
A system for automatically assessing orthostatic hypotension for a patient supported on a patient support apparatus. The system receives position data identifying a first position of a patient supported on a patient support apparatus, and after a delay, receives vital signs data of the patient. The system receives position data identifying a second position of the patient supported on the patient support apparatus, and after a delay, receives vital signs data of the patient. The system determines an orthostatic hypotension assessment based on a difference in the vital signs data between the first and second positions. Based on the orthostatic hypotension assessment, the system modifies one or more conditions on the patient support apparatus to mitigate a risk for patient fall.
In-bed patient identity verification and data collection
A patient support system includes a patient support apparatus operable to collect biometric and/or physiological data of a patient located on the patient support apparatus, using one or more sensors that are coupled to the patient or coupled to a component of the patient support apparatus. The system can use the biometric and/or physiological data to verify the identity of a patient that is associated with the patient support apparatus or a patient room. Based on the patient verification, the system can update patient electronic medical records to include the biometric and/or physiological data, and/or perform other tasks.
Patient support apparatuses with multi-sensor fusion
A patient support apparatus includes a plurality of primary sensors adapted to measure different parameters used in the control of the patient support apparatus. One or more suites of secondary sensors are added to the patient support apparatus to provide data about the primary sensors. The secondary sensors may be used to detect errors in the primary sensors, to modify outputs from the primary sensors, and/or to provide usage and/or diagnostic data about the use of the patient support apparatus. The suite(s) of secondary sensors may measure parameters that affect the outputs of one or more of the primary sensors. In some embodiments, the suite(s) of secondary sensors include one or more dormant sensors that are not used on the patient support apparatus until a code modification is received from one or more external sources instructing the control system of the patient support apparatus to begin using the dormant sensor(s).
AIRBAG CUSHION ASSEMBLY, INTELLIGENT PRESSURE SORE PREVENTION CUSHION, AND MONITORING SYSTEM
An airbag cushion assembly includes an airbag cushion and an inflation-deflation apparatus that communicates with the airbag cushion. The airbag cushion includes a plurality of sub-airbags, and an airbag gap is formed between adjacent sub-airbags. The inflation-deflation apparatus is provided with an exhaust port, the exhaust port is provided in the airbag gap, and the inflation-deflation apparatus is configured to inflate and deflate the airbag cushion. For the airbag cushion assembly, the exhaust port is provided in the airbag gap, air exhausted by the airbag cushion takes away damp air accumulated between a patient and the airbag cushion, to reduce humidity of the contact area between the patient and the airbag cushion, thereby achieving a pressure sore prevention effect.
Pressure injury prevention sensor and decision support tool
Technologies are provided for determining a likelihood or risk of a human patient for developing pressure injury based on patterns of movement by the patient determined using a specialized measurement support surface. Some embodiments automatically ascertain whether patterns of movements of a human subject, whose weight is supported on the support surface, exhibit sufficient frequency and variability of activity such as will confer either certain health benefits or expose the individual to certain health risks, such as development of pressure ulcers in the load-bearing skin and soft tissues. If the determined patterns manifest such features associated with benefits or risks, then a notification may be provided for the patient to move; for instance, to the patient or a caregiver. In some embodiments, a notification may be provided at an irregular time intervals within-day intervals.
System for managing patient support apparatuses and clinical rounds
A caregiver assistance system for assisting a caregiver in a healthcare facility to perform his or her rounding duties comprises a server in communication with one or more patient beds and one or more electronic devices (e.g. smart phones) that are remote from the beds and that include a display, a user input, and a web browser. The server executes a caregiver assistance application that causes the electronic device to perform the following actions after the web browser of the electronic device accesses a particular URL whose content and function are controlled by the caregiver assistance application: (a) display rounding information on the display relating to a patient associated with the bed, and (b) forward a completion indication to the caregiver assistance application wherein the completion indication is generated in response to a caregiver manipulating the user input when the caregiver has completed a rounding task associated with the patient.
Person support apparatuses with load cells
A person support apparatus, such as a bed, cot, stretcher, chair, or the like, includes a frame, a support surface supported by the frame, a plurality of load cells that detect weight supported on the support surface, at least one A/D converter, and a controller. The load cells output analog signals that are converted to digital by the A/D converters. The controller switches a sampling rate of the A/D converters between at least first and second rates. The outputs from the load cells are forwarded to a plurality of signal acquisition nodes that include the A/D converters. The nodes are positioned at locations that minimize the length of travel of the analog signals, thereby reducing noise interference. Shivering, occupant absence/presence, vital signs, occupant movement, and/or other parameters are detected by the load cells.
