OSMOTIC MILK CONCENTRATOR HAVING A NUTRIENT FORTIFIED DRAW SOLUTION
Embodiments disclosed herein relate to an osmotic milk concentrator having a nutrient fortified draw solution and related methods. The osmotic milk concentrator includes at least one draw material reservoir, at least one human milk reservoir, at least one semi-permeable membrane between the at least one draw material reservoir and the at least one human milk reservoir.
DEVICE FOR UV-LED LIQUID MONITORING AND TREATMENT
A liquid treatment device includes a base with a power source, a UV-LED module for providing UV-B or UV-C light to liquid, an LED for providing visible light, and a processor for selectively powering the UV-LED module and the LED, and having a UV transmissive material above the UV-LED module for allowing the UV-B or UV-C band light from the UV-LED module to be transmitted from the base housing, and a liquid storage housing removably coupled to the base housing with a storage portion configured to hold liquid and having a bottom portion comprising a UV transmissive material for allowing the UV-B or UV-C band light from the UV-LED module to be transmitted into the liquid, and an output coupled for restricting outflow of the liquid from the storage portion.
Device for pasteurization of human milk
A device for inactivating or reducing an amount of biological contaminants in human milk comprises an interior for taking in human milk to be treated in order to inactivate or reduce the amount of biological contaminants, and at least one UV lamp for irradiating the milk being in the interior in order to subject it to the treatment. The treatment is a first function of the device, wherein the device has a second function, the device being capable of fulfilling the first function at the same time as the second function, wherein the second function is one or more of milk expressing, milk collecting, milk storing, milk warming, milk feeding, milk processing and milk handling.
Thickener composition, thickened nutritive products, methods for preparing thickened nutritive products, and methods for providing nutrition
Disclosed are thickener compositions composed of xanthan gum and a chelating agent, such as ascorbic acid. The chelating agent is present in an amount with respect to said xanthan such that, when said thickener composition is used to thicken a food product, at least one mineral selected from the group consisting of iron, zinc, and calcium present in said food product is relatively more bioavailable than the mineral would be in the absence of said chelating agent. The thickener composition finds particular applicability for use with baby formulas and breast milk intended for dysphagic infants. Also disclosed are baby formulas and thickened breast milk formulations, methods for preparing same, and methods for providing nutrition.
Device for UV-LED liquid monitoring and treatment
A treatment device includes a base having a battery, a UV-LED for providing UV-C light during a UV sterilization process, LEDs for providing visible light during the UV sterilization process, and a controller for initiating the UV sterilization process, a translucent ring on the base for receiving the visible light from the LEDs and outputting it to the user, a first coupling structure on the base, a UV transmissive material above the UV-LED module, and a water storage removably coupled to the base having a sidewall structure for confining water, a second coupling structure below the sidewall structure for coupling with the first coupling structure to thereby create a water-tight seal between the water storage and the base, and a translucent material disposed upon the top opening of the water storage for receiving the visible light from the LEDs and outputting it to the user.
GENDER SPECIFIC SYNTHETIC NUTRITIONAL COMPOSITIONS AND NUTRITIONAL SYSTEMS COMPRISING THEM
Gender specific synthetic nutritional compositions for infants 4 to 8 months of age, 1 to 2 months of age, or up to 1 month of age. The concentration of methionine is adapted based on that found in human milk produced for an infant of the same gender and age. Also provided are nutritional systems including the gender specific synthetic nutritional compositions, and methods of using the compositions and the systems.
PURIFIED HUMAN MILK OLIGOSACCHARIDES COMPOSITIONS
The present invention relates to purified and concentrated human milk oligosaccharide compositions and methods of making and using the same.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS USING IL-8 TO IMPROVE MILK PRODUCTION AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH IN MAMMALS
The present disclosure provides compositions and methods for improving reproductive health of mammals and increasing milk production from female mammals. The methods involve administering an effective amount of IL-8 to a female mammal such that the reproductive health of the mammal is improved, or milk production from the mammal is increased, or the fat content of the milk is increased. In another aspect the disclosure includes prophylaxis and/or therapy of uterine conditions by administering IL-8 to a female mammal.
