ROPE HAVING AN END CONNECTOR SEGMENT COMPRISING TWO ROPE-BRANCHES WITH UNEQUAL LENGTHS
A rope (1) according to the invention comprises a main rope segment (4), a branching position (5) and an end connector segment (6), wherein the end connector segment comprises a first rope-branch (11), which comprises a first rope-branch-eye (21), and a second rope-branch (12), which comprises a second rope-branch-eye (22), wherein an attainable maximum first effective length (L1) of the first rope-branch (11) is higher than 120% of an attainable maximum second effective length (L2) of the second rope-branch (12). The rope according to the invention allows for alternative favourable manners of connecting the rope to other ropes and to other types of external objects.
Devices and methods for bundling cables
The present disclosure describes a grommet formed of a polymeric material and adapted for bundling a plurality of discrete cables, comprising a main body having a generally cylindrical profile surrounding an interior cavity, the main body further having a length, a thickness, and a longitudinal axis; and a central member integrally coupled to the main body and located within the interior cavity of the main body, the central member extending generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the main body. Methods of bundling cables are also provided.
SLING
The disclosure provides a sling including a sleeve, a first eye formed by a first splice, and a second eye formed by a second splice. The sleeve includes braided strands and has a first end portion, a second end portion, and an intermediate portion between. The sleeve also defines a hollow inner volume. The first splice is made by the first end portion extending into and along part of the hollow inner volume proximate the first eye. The second splice is made by the second end portion extending into and along part of the hollow inner volume proximate the second eye. A hollow load bearing portion is defined in the intermediate portion between the first splice and the second splice.
Expandable heavy equipment, and elongated pull element
An elongated pull element (14), in particular for an element of an expandable heavy equipment (1) comprises a bundle of load bearing fibers/fibres (41) extending along the length of the elongated pull element (14), and stiffening means (54) comprising an exoskeleton for increasing the bending stiffness of the elongated pull element (14), compared to the bending stiffness of the load bearing fibers/fibres (41).

Device and method for producing a load bearing cable, as well as a load bearing cable
A device 100 produces an endless winding cable 101 by winding a yarn 106 around two thimbles 102, 104. The device 100 comprises an elongated guide 110, a carriage 112, a yarn feeder 114, a first thimble holder 116, and a second thimble holder 118. The first thimble holder 116 and the second thimble holder 118 each hold one of the two thimbles 102, 104. The carriage 112 is movable relative to the elongated guide 110. The yarn feeder 114 is connected to the carriage 112, and comprises at least one spool holder 120 for holding a spool 122 with the at least one yarn 106, and an output guide 124 for guiding the at least one yarn 106 to the cable during winding. The yarn feeder 114 comprises at least one yarn brake 126 for controlling a tension of the at least one yarn 106 during winding.

Fid for rope splicing
A fid is made of separate components that can be easily assembled and disassembled by the user. In this manner the fid components can be easily stored or transported and then assembled when needed to create a fid of sufficient length to splice a synthetic rope or other types of rope. The fid includes an elongate shaft or needle with a first that tapers to a point. The opposing end of the shaft may be machined to form a connection structure. A coupler may have an elongate form with two opposing ends along a center axis. One end of the coupler removable attaches to the needle at the connection structure. The second end of the coupler permanently attaches to a rope holder, which may take the form of a cylindrical, helically wound braid of thin wire cable forming a wire basket.
