Elevator system suspension member
A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator system component include one or more metallic cord tension elements extending along a length of the belt, and one or more non-metallic tension elements extending along a length of the belt. Each non-metallic tension element is formed from a non-metallic material. The one or more metallic cord tension elements and the one or more non-metallic tension elements are arrayed laterally across a lateral width of the belt. The belt may be used in an elevator system including a hoistway, a drive machine having a traction sheave coupled thereto, an elevator car movable within the hoistway. The belt is operably connected to the elevator car and interactive with the traction sheave to suspend and/or drive the elevator car along the hoistway.

Elevator load bearing member including a unidirectional weave
An illustrative example embodiment of an elevator load bearing member includes a unidirectional weave of a plurality of load bearing fibers including at least a first material and a second material. A melting point of the first material is higher than a melting point of the second material. The plurality of load bearing fibers are bonded together by at least some of the second material that is at least partially melted. A coating covers the plurality of load bearing fibers.
REINFORCED FABRIC ELEVATOR BELT WITH IMPROVED INTERNAL WEAR RESISTANCE
A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes a plurality of tension elements extending longitudinally along a length of the belt, at least one tension element of the plurality of tension elements having one or more tension element coating layers applied thereto. A plurality of fibers are interlaced with the plurality of tension elements forming a composite belt structure. A belt coating at least partially encapsulates the composite belt structure. A method of forming a belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes forming a plurality of tension elements and applying one or more coating layers to at least one tension element of the plurality of tension elements. A plurality of fibers are interlaced with the plurality of tension elements to form a composite belt structure. A belt coating is applied to the composite belt structure to at least partially encapsulate the composite belt structure.
LOAD BEARING MEMBER INCLUDING LATERAL LAYER
A load bearing member for a lifting and/or hoisting system includes a plurality of tension members arranged along a width of the load bearing member. Each tension member includes a plurality of load carrying fibers arranged to extend in a direction parallel to a length of the load bearing member and a matrix material in which the plurality of load carrying fibers are arranged. The load bearing member further includes a lateral layer and a jacket material at least partially encapsulating the plurality of tension members.
Self healing elevator load bearing member
An elevator load bearing member includes a plurality of load bearing cords and a jacket at least partially surrounding the cords. The jacket includes a layer received against the cords, and a self-healing component. A method of making an elevator load bearing member is also disclosed.

WEAR DETECTION FOR ELEVATOR SYSTEM BELT
A belt for an elevator system includes a plurality of tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt, each tension member including a plurality of fibers. A metallized coating layer is applied to at least a portion of an outer surface of at least one tension member of the plurality of tension members. The metallized coating has a coating electrical conductivity greater than a tension member electrical conductivity of the at least one tension member. A jacket material at least partially encapsulates the plurality of tension members and the metallized coating layer.
