Hybrid Materials & Methods

A hybrid material may be configured as a hybrid fabric. An illustrative embodiment of a hybrid fabric may be constructed of two yarns engaged with one another and exhibit a moisture absorbency of ten seconds or less and a differential in moisture spreading speed one a first face of the hybrid fabric compared to that of a second face. Another illustrative embodiment of a hybrid fabric may be constructed of two yarns engaged with one another and exhibit a moisture absorbency of ten seconds or less and a planar wicking rate of at least 2.5 mm/min. Another illustrative embodiment of a hybrid fabric may be constructed of two welded yarns produced via welding processes differently configured such that the resulting welded yarns have one or more differing properties. Illustrative embodiments of such hybrid fabrics include but are not limited to pique and jersey and pique fabrics constructed of cotton.

Disclosed are the cut edges of an absorbent fabric comprising at least 45% and less than about 90% cellulosic or natural fibers, and a fusible component being stabilized by fusing the fusible component with an arrangement of spaced lines or spaced areas extending from the cut edges, and optionally over the entire absorbent fabric.

SOFT TWIST TERRY ARTICLE

A terry article includes a ground component including a plurality of ground warp yarns and a plurality of ground weft yarns interwoven with the plurality of ground warp yarns. The ground component includes a second side and a first side opposed to the second side along a vertical direction, as well as a pile component extending away from the ground component along the vertical direction. The pile component includes a plurality of plied yarns, where each of the plied yarns includes 1) a first yarn that has a first yarn count, and 2) a second yarn that has a second yarn count that is greater than the first yarn count. The second yarn includes regenerated cellulose fibers.

LABEL AND RELATED METHOD
20210257163 · 2021-08-19 ·

A label and related method of manufacture that includes a fabric made of yarn, in either cut individual singles or continuous ribbon format in any length. The yarn includes a fiber that has been recycled, that is recyclable, that is organic, that is biodegradable, and/or that can be derived from a material that is known to be environmentally friendly. The yarn, in one embodiment, may include a fiber defined as “high filament count” material, above the current industry standard of 24 filaments, being in the range of 72 to 96 to 144 filaments or higher per individual yarn, in any denier range of 30 denier to 150 denier thickness, in natural raw white, optical dyed white, or dyed colors. These yarns can be independent of each other.

FABRICS HAVING IMPROVED MOISTURE TRANSPORT PROPERTIES

The present invention provides a fabric comprising or consisting of: a first yarn comprising a fiber blend of modal and polyester; a second yarn comprising spandex; and a third yam comprising polyester. The polyester in the fiber blend may have a cross-section such as X-shape, M-shape, I-shape, honeycomb-shape, Y-shape, U-shape or O-shape that creates a plurality of spaces along the length of the first yarn that facilitate a capillary action. The modal in the fiber blend may have a cross-section that is substantially rectangular.

Flame Retardant Fiber with Preservative and Products Formed Therefrom

A fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber includes a preservative, e.g., zinc pyrithione, as an antimicrobial agent. The present invention is further directed to a yarn that includes the fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber. The yarn may be a sheath-and-core yarn where the fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber is incorporated into the sheath, and the core is formed from fiberglass or any other suitable material. The present invention is further directed to a fabric formed from the fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber, such as a nonwoven fabric, a knit fabric, or a woven fabric. Moreover, the present invention is further directed to an article such as one or more layers of a mattress or bedding formed from the fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber.

FLAME RESISTANT FABRICS

Embodiments of the present invention relate to flame resistant fabrics formed with inherently flame resistant fibers that provide the requisite thermal and arc protection, that have improved comfort, and that, in some embodiments, are less expensive than other fabrics formed with inherently flame resistant fibers. Improved comfort and lower cost can be achieved by predominantly locating the inherently flame resistant fibers on the front face of the fabric to impart the requisite thermal and arc protection and predominantly locating the more comfortable (and less expensive) fibers on the back face of the fabric positioned next to the wearer. In this way, overall protection of the fabric is maintained while improving comfort. Some embodiments of such fabrics may also achieve NFPA 70E PPE Category 2 protection.
