20240000650 · 2024-01-04 ·

An apparatus comprising an adapting component and a releasably-connecting component. A process comprising releasably connecting an apparatus and a device. The apparatus comprises an adapting component and a releasably-connecting component.

Systems, methods, and devices for sensing and providing biofeedback at target axial load

Several embodiments are provided of a device which is tunable for providing a walking aid user with passive haptic feedback. The haptic feedback is provided to the user when a predetermined, desired force in the device is reached. The force, often simply an axial force, in the device is inputted by the user, who is looking to support some of his or her body weight, thereby taking some weight off of one or both legs for some purpose. The amount of body weight support the user would input is often expressed in terms of percentage of the user's total body weight, and can therefore be predetermined and the device tuned accordingly.

REMOVABLE TOILET SEAT SYSTEM FOR A WALKER
20200352400 · 2020-11-12 ·

A removable toilet seat system for a walker, including a seat portion removably connected to at least a portion of the walker to facilitate a user being disposed thereupon, and at least one seat-holding tab rotatably disposed on at least a portion of the walker to move from retracted in a first position to at least partially extracted in a second position, such that the seat portion is prevented from falling in response to a bottom surface of the seat portion contacting the at least one seat-holding tab.

Non-slip self-supporting orthopedic device
10828225 · 2020-11-10 ·

A non-slip self-supporting orthopedic device includes: an upper disk slidably engaged with the rod and externally provided with a hinge; a lower disk, connected with the orthopedic device allowing the elastomeric foot to project downward, and externally provided with a hinge; and arms with upper element, lower element and spring adapted to hold the arm in folded configuration. The movable mechanism can take an enlarged configuration, in which the upper disk contacts the lower disk and the arms are folded. In an elongated configuration, the arms are in axial configuration following the pressing of a button connected to a kinematic mechanism causing the arms to take the axial configuration. The reversible connection system allows the reversible disconnection of the lower elements of the arms preselected by the hinge, determining the lifting of the entire arm in a vertical position by rotation around the hinge.

Crutch with energy storage and energy return

Various features for improving the performance of crutches are provided. A crutch can flex at one or more locations or include composite material to provide energy storage and return to the user during ambulation. In some aspects, a crutch is provided that can propel the user forward during ambulation. The crutch can be hollow at one or more locations to allow for increased flexibility and narrower at one or more locations to enhance springiness of the crutch.

End cap structure for cane/crutch/trekking pole
10813421 · 2020-10-27 · ·

An end cap structure for a cane/crutch/trekking pole includes a main body, an elastic interlayer, and a bottom layer. The elastic interlayer is disposed between the main body and the bottom layer to ensure the structural strength of the end cap. When the user swings the cane/crutch/trekking pole in all directions, the whole underside of the bottom layer is kept in contact with the ground due to the elastic interlayer to ensure that the anti-slip function is not affected, thereby improving the safety of the product when in use.

AMBULATORY AID
20200323320 · 2020-10-15 ·

An ambulatory aid, such as a walking cane, including an elongate shaft, a handle at a first, upper end of the shaft, and a foot piece at a second, lower end of the shaft opposite the first end. The cane shaft can be adjustable at a top end, middle, a bottom end, or any combination thereof. The top of the cane shaft is aligned at a more posterior angle then the bottom of the shaft. The handle of the cane is elongated and extends posterior and anterior to the shaft. In a particular embodiment, a posterior portion of the handle is longer, and optionally larger in surface area than an anterior portion of the handle such that the handle is configured so that when the person's hand is gripping the handle, the handle will be offset over the shaft.

Assistive cane and reach extension combination device
10780013 · 2020-09-22 ·

An assistive cane and reach extension combination device for improved stability and reach includes a shaft. A handle that is coupled to and extends from of the shaft is configured to be grasped in a hand of a user, positioning the shaft to transfer a load from the handle to a surface upon which the user is positioned. A bar that is hingedly coupled to the shaft proximate to the handle is selectively positionable in a stowed configuration, wherein the bar is substantially parallel to the shaft, and a deployed configuration, wherein the bar is selectively positionable transversely to the shaft. In the deployed configuration the bar and the shaft are configured to insert an article. An actuator that is coupled to the shaft is operationally coupled to the bar so that the actuator is positioned to selectively motivate the bar toward the shaft to grasp the article.

Collapsable Safety Cane With Shock Absorbing Feature
20200276074 · 2020-09-03 ·

A shock absorbing handle for a white cane for blind people or visually impaired, essentially providing a lengthy type of white cane, one that may be collapsible to reduce its size for packaging and conveyance, but once assembled, incorporates resilient members within its handle, primarily in the form of a spring located in the handle region of the cane, in order to cushion the impact when the lower tip of the cane encounters and obstruction, that impedes further movement. A length of resilient cord, such as a bungee cord, extends from the top of the handle of the cane, to the lower tip of its bottom most segment, so that when the cord is stretched, the various segments can be separated from their connecting ferrules, and contracted into a smaller size for packaging. The various segments can be stretched, through their resilient cord, and secured together, to form the lengthy white cane, having cushioning impact provided within its handle, to relieve stress upon the user, when obstructions are encountered during usage of the cane during its application.
