Method for impregnating biomass and device for impregnating biomass
The invention relates to a method for impregnating biomass (10). In a step (S100) of the method, a reactor unit (11) is fed with biomass (10) by means of a plug screw (12). In another step (S200), the reactor unit (11) is at least partially filled up to a predetermined fill level (13) with a reactant (18), such that a reaction between the fed biomass (10) and the reactant (18) takes place in order to obtain an impregnated biomass. In another step (S300), the impregnated biomass (10) is discharged from the reactor unit (11) for further processing (S300). The invention further relates to a device (1) for impregnating biomass (10).

Method for extracting biomass
Method for extraction of biomass with water in order to separate hemicelluloses from a fibrous structure. The biomass is impregnated under reduced pressure with the extraction fluid in order to prevent the degradation of the components to be extracted. During extraction the extract is circulated through the fiber matrix in order to remove unwanted components from the extract. The extract is reused for extracting untreated biomass in order to increase the consistency of the extract.

PROCESSES FOR BIOMASS TREATMENTS
A process for treatment of lignocellulosic biomasses with a process solvent selected from an eutectic solvent consisting of a hydrogen bond acceptor and of a hydrogen bond donor, an ionic liquid, and a mixture of the eutectic solvent and the ionic liquid, may include: A. mixing the biomasses with the process solvent and possibly separating insoluble cellulose residues and/or inorganic material; B. treating the possibly filtered process solvent solution from step A with water, thereby separating lignin; and C. separating hemicellulose from the mixture of the process solvent and possibly the water. Step C may be carried out by adding an organic solvent soluble in the process solvent and in the water, whereby hemicellulose precipitates and is subsequently separated with conventional techniques from a liquid phase comprising the process solvent, the organic solvent, and possibly the water.
