SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DEWATERING AND DRYING NANOCELLULOSE
The present invention allows the production of nanocellulose in dry form, enabling incorporation into a wide variety of end-use applications. Some variations provide a nanocellulose-slurry dewatering system comprising: a nanocellulose slurry feed sub-system; a pre-concentration unit (e.g., a centrifuge) to remove at least a portion of the water from the nanocellulose slurry; an inlet for a dispersion/drying agent; a twin-screw extruder in flow communication with the nanocellulose slurry feed sub-system, wherein the twin-screw extruder intimately mixes the nanocellulose slurry and the dispersion/drying agent, wherein the twin-screw extruder shears the nanocellulose slurry, and wherein the twin-screw extruder is configured with one or more extruder vents to remove water from the nanocellulose slurry; and an extruder outlet for recovering a nanocellulose-dispersion concentrate. A milling device may be employed to generate a fine powder of the nanocellulose-dispersion concentrate. Methods of making and using the dewatered or dried nanocellulose are also described.
DRUM WASHER WITH GRAVITY ASSIST DRAINAGE
A rotary drum filter includes a drum shell configured to rotate through a slurry, the drum shell having areas defining a plurality of drainage holes, at least one divider plate a first end and a second end, the at least one divider plate disposed on an outer surface of the drum shell and extending longitudinally and laterally along the drum shell, the first end being disposed near a drainage hole, and a filter medium disposed on one or more grids that are disposed on the outer surface of the drum shell above the at least one divider plate. The at least one divider plate is configured to direct filtrate on the outer surface of the drum shell filtered through the filter medium into the drainage hole.

ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD FOR DEGASSING A PUMP
An arrangement and a method for controlling a gas flow separated from a suspension of medium consistency pulp. The pulp is treated in a pulp treatment apparatus including a first pump and a second pump, wherein the second pump is a degassing centrifugal pump provided with a degassing system including a degassing conduit in which a degassing valve is arranged for regulating a pressure difference between an inlet of the second pump and the degassing conduit. The degassing system further includes a pressurized degassing vessel working under overpressure and having an inlet and an outlet, wherein the outlet of the vessel is connected to a pressure control valve for maintaining a desired overpressure in the vessel.

CONTINUOUS PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF CELLULOSE PULP FROM GRASS-LIKE FEEDSTOCK
An improved continuous process for production of cellulose from glass-like feedstock, which includes: (i) cooking of comminuted grass-like feedstock in white liquor which contains 0.5-2.0% w/w NaOH and 0.5-25.0% w/w NaCl at 95-100° C.; (ii) bleaching process of the brown cellulose in the white liquor of the same composition with oxygen (O.sub.2) and chlorine (Cl.sub.2) at 70-100° C., yielding bleached cellulose pulp; where, (iii) lignin and other side-products are separated by continuous electrolysis, where the white liquor is regenerated, together with O.sub.2 and Cl.sub.2 for the bleaching purpose, thereby closing the cycle of the process.

Biomass pulp digester
The multi-stage modular horizontal digester is primarily comprised of a single auger in a horizontal orientation. The single auger includes sections of lesser and greater inner diameter, thus creating sections of that allow for mixing and time to operate on the contents, and sections where the liquids are squeezed out. As compared to the known processing methodology, the multi-stage modular horizontal digester creates numerous benefits. For example, by maintaining elevation of the pulp, it can be directly expelled into the hydrapulper without the need for an additional pump. Processes can be changed quickly by altering the rotation speed, auger sections, or chemical inputs and outputs without the need to move heavy tanks or adjust pumps. In other words, there is no need for the standard cascade-style system where the pulp descends through a step, is raised to the next step, and so forth.
