Foam assisted application of strength additives to paper products
A foaming formulation is provided herein. The foaming formulation includes at least one foaming agent in an amount of from about 0.001% to about 10% by weight based on a total weight of the foaming solution. The foaming formulation further includes a synthetic strength additive having a cationic functional group in an amount from about 0.01% to about 50% by weight based on a total weight of the foaming solution. The foaming formulation further includes water.
TREATED ARTICLE, METHODS OF MAKING THE TREATED ARTICLE, AND DISPERSION FOR USE IN MAKING THE TREATED ARTICLE
A treated article includes fibers, a sizing agent, and a retention aid. The sizing agent includes a wax or a component thereof having an acid value of from 10 mg to 220 mg, KOH/g as measured in accordance with USP 401. The retention aid includes a nitrogen-containing polymer independently selected from the group consisting of (i) a nitrogen-containing polymer of Formula I, (ii) a polyethyleneimine, (iii) a polyaminoamide, (iv) a copolymer formed from the reaction product of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine, and (v) combinations thereof.
Stable aqueous dispersions comprising complexed starch
Provided is a stable aqueous dispersion suitable for application to different substrates and especially to paper substrates for producing a barrier layer against compounds of the saturated and aromatic hydrocarbon type. The aqueous dispersion comprises destructurized starch in a complexed form. Also provided is the use of aqueous dispersion as a coating composition for paper based substrates, as a microencapsulant of fragrances and as a film-forming component for paints.

A coating composition for a base paper is described. The coating composition comprises a porous clay and an ink pigment fixation agent. The porous clay comprises an alumina-silicate, and has a surface area from 100 m2/g to 400 m2/g.
Method for production of a product comprising a first ply
The present invention relates to a method for production of product comprising a first ply, the method comprising the steps of: providing a fibrous suspension comprising fibers; providing said fibrous suspension to a porous medium to form a substrate comprising fibers; providing a first additive suspension comprising a first strengthening agent, wherein the first strengthening agent is microfibrillated cellulose; providing a second additive suspension comprising at least one retention agent and/or at least one drainage agent; dewatering said substrate on said porous medium; performing additive addition to said substrate during said dewatering of said substrate on said porous medium, wherein the additive addition is performed when the substrate has a dry content of less than 20 weight-%, preferably less than 10 weight-%, most preferably less than 7 weight-%, and wherein the additive addition comprises adding at least a layer of said first additive suspension and a layer of said second additive suspension to said substrate by means of multilayer curtain coating, and further dewatering and drying said substrate after said dewatering on said porous medium so as to provide said first ply. The invention also relates to a paper, board or non-woven product obtainable by the method.
Heat-Resistant Wrapper Paper for Aerosol-Generating Articles
The invention concerns a wrapper paper which is suitable for use on aerosol-generating articles and which comprises pulp fibers and a char-former, wherein the pulp fibers make up at least 70% and at most 95% of the mass of the wrapper paper and the char-former is contained in a concentration of at least 5% and at most 20% with respect to the mass of the wrapper paper and is present in a concentration in the wrapper paper such that the quotient r=R.sub.T/R.sub.o of the tensile strength R.sub.o, measured in accordance with ISO 1924-2:2008 under the conditions of ISO 187:1990, and of the tensile strength R.sub.T, measured in accordance with ISO 1924-2:2008 under the conditions of ISO 187:1990 after the wrapper paper has been exposed to a temperature of 230° C. for one minute, is at least 0.20 and at most 0.90.

Biodegradable reinforced paper packaging mater
A paper packaging material having a paper layer with a polyethylene coating on one surface, a biodegradable resin grid on the opposite surface to enhance its strength while maintaining reduced weight and a thermo-sealing resin, which eliminates the use of glues in the packaging process. The vegetal resin is made out of vegetable wax, acrylic styrene copolymer, demineralized water, water based silicone and natural fungicide.
ENHANCED PVOH-BASED BARRIER LAYER COMPOSITION, BARRIER LAYER AND METHODS FOR ITS MANUFACTURE
There is provided a packaging material comprising a fibre based substrate and a gas barrier layer based on a polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), wherein said gas barrier layer comprises an interpolymer complex forming agent (IPCFA), which IPCFA is a water-soluble polymer exhibiting functional groups capable of forming hydrogen bonds with —OH groups of the PVOH. Said PVOH has a weight average molecular weight (M.sub.w) measured according to ASTM D4001-13 in the range of about 80 kg/mol to 135 kg/mol, the proportion of said IPCFA to PVOH in said gas barrier layer is in the range of 0.5 to 7.0% (w/w) and said packaging material has an oxygen permeability (OP) below 14 ml μm/m.sup.2 day atm, which OP is obtained by multiplying the oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of the packaging material measured according to ASTM F1927-7 at a relative humidity (RH) of 80% and 23° C. by the thickness of the gas barrier layer.
