Treatment Composition Containing A Mold Inhibiting Agent and A Water Repellent Having Reduced Foaming Properties
The present disclosure is generally directed to a mold inhibiting composition. The mold inhibiting composition can be used to treat various different substrates, including building material products, such as facing layers for wallboard. In general, any suitable paper product may be treated with the composition. The composition contains a mold inhibiting agent in combination with a defoamer. The mold inhibiting agent may comprise a pyrithione. The defoamer, on the other hand, may comprise an oil based defoamer containing metal oxide particles, such as silica particles. The mold inhibiting composition can be combined with a water repellent and applied to a substrate without excessive amounts of foam or froth being formed. The defoamer is selected so as to not interfere with the resulting water absorption properties of the product.
EMULSION FOAM REDUCER FOR WET PROCESSING OF CELLULOSE OR WOOD-BASED PRODUCTS OR IN FOOD PROCESSING
Methods are provided for defoaming water used in processing of various products such as cellulose or wood-based products or in food processing which is formed by reacting a fatty acid with a compound selected from the group consisting of ammonia, sodium, potassium and combinations thereof so as to form a water soluble soap, dispersing the water soluble soap in water, and homogenizing the dispersed water soluble soap with hydrophobic oil or hydrocarbon oil to produce the emulsion. Methods for preparing an emulsion used in this process are also provided. The emulsion is advantageous in that it can improve water resistance and/or reduce the use of water resistant additives during processing of cellulose or wood-based products or food-grade products.

IMPREGNATED CORE PAPER FOR DECORATIVE LAMINATE
An impregnated core paper for a decorative laminate, in particular high-pressure decorative laminate, obtained by impregnating a paper substrate with an aqueous impregnating composition including one or more resins selected from melamine-ether resins, acrylic resins, epoxy resins, and mixtures thereof.
System and method for producing mold-resistant paper with wet scrubber assembly
Embodiments of a system and a method for preparing mold-resistant paper comprising a wet scrubber assembly in fluid communication with at least one collection plenum disposed at an operational area of a paper manufacturing line. The wet scrubber assembly can be operated to draw a stream of exhaust air from the operational area of the paper manufacturing line through the wet scrubber assembly to remove particulate from the exhaust stream. Such systems and methods can be used to produce mold-resistant paper by coating a paper with an antimicrobial composition including at least one antimicrobial additive at the calendering stage. The collection plenum can be placed in proximate relationship with the calendering stack such that the amount of antimicrobial additive particulate in the air at the calendering stage is reduced. The mold-resistant paper can be used in a gypsum panel.
