Fiber-based microwave bowls with selective spray coating

Methods and apparatus for vacuum forming and subsequently applying topical coatings fiber-based food containers. The slurry includes one or more of an embedded moisture barrier, vapor barrier, and oil barrier, and the topical coating comprises one or more of a vapor barrier, a moisture barrier, an oil barrier, and an oxygen barrier. For food containers having deep sidewalls, a spray coating system includes a first nozzle for applying a full cone spray pattern to the bottom surface of the container, and a second nozzle for applying a hollow cone spray pattern to the inside surfaces of the side walls.

DETERMINING STRENGTH OF WOOD FIBERBOARD
20180202112 · 2018-07-19 ·

Wood-fiber insulation board is pressed to a uniform thickness and continuously advanced in a horizontal travel direction on a conveyor prior to subdivision into individual panels. The strength of the wood-fiber insulation board is determined by first pressing with an actuator a contact element downward at an actual pressure on a subregion of the advancing wood-fiber insulation board so as produce an actual deformation of the wood-fiber insulation board of between 1% to 7% of its thickness. Then a force sensor determines the actual pressure applied by the contact element to the board that produces the actual deformation and this the determined pressure and the actual deformation are transmitted to a central processor that extrapolates to a standardized deformation based on the determined pressure and actual deformation.

A method for manufacturing a right-angled pulp product uses a mixture of cellulose fibers as pulp. Steps in the method include taking the pulp to form a flat shape, pressing and heat-drying the flat-shaped pulp to form a pulp product having a plurality of troughs, taking out the pulp product, cutting off a burr around the pulp product, applying adhesive onto each of the troughs, and bending two adjacent plates at two sides of each trough to form a right angle and a fixed shape.
