Multilayered nonwoven fabric containing submicron fibers, a method of manufacture, an apparatus, and articles made from multilayered nonwoven fabrics
This document presents a novel method of manufacturing multilayered nonwoven fabrics consisting of submicron fibers, hydroentangled, meltfibrillated, and/or spunlaid web layers. The composite multilayered webs contain one or more submicron fiber webs placed between inner and outer layers of hydroentangled, meltfibrillated, and/or spunlaid web, forming a fabric that may be utilized in the manufacture of articles which serve as barriers, wipes or sorbent materials, or may have other potential applications. The created novel composite multilayered fabric may have increased loft, softness and bending length, may not be solely dependent upon an electrostatic charge to repel small particles and microbes, and may be formed from a broad selection of natural, synthetic, and recycled polymers, including petroleum- and plant-based, allowing polymer selection based on article lifecycle.
Method for producing elongated structures such as fibers from polymer solutions by straining flow spinning
A method of molecular self-assembly is disclosed using two interacting streams that are allowed to interact and are subsequently forced through an orifice. A first stream of a dope solution of polymer molecules is extruded out of a capillary. The dope stream is surrounded by a focusing fluid which is miscible with the dope solution. The interaction between the jet of dope solution and surrounding focusing fluid creates hydrodynamic stretching and allows for extracting solvent from the dope solution. Concentrated polymers within the solution at stretched regions of the jet interact, and finally self-assembly takes place after the fluids are forced through the outlet of a converging nozzle. The formation of the structure can be optionally completed in a coagulating space. The structures thus obtained such as fibers or threads can be wound onto a mandrel.
SPINNERET BLOCK WITH UNITARY SPINNERET BODY AND NOZZLES FOR USE IN THE MANUFACTURING OF SPUN-BLOWN FIBERS
The present invention relates to a particular execution for a die block for spun-blowing process for forming a fibers or filaments that may further form a spun-blown web or nonwoven comprising such a formed fibrous web, e.g. as a layer in a multi-layer composite web. The die block comprises a spinneret block with unitary spinneret body and nozzles.
Multi-angle spinneret with upper and lower body structure
A multi-angle spinneret for forming hollow fibers is provided. The multi-angle spinneret includes a body defining a dope chamber, a bore needle channel, and multiple dope channels being oriented at a minimum of two distinct dope channel angles relative to the dope chamber. The body includes a bore needle disposed in the bore needle channel and oriented substantially perpendicular relative to the dope chamber. The bore needle extends though the dope chamber, such that a bore fluid flow through the bore needle is kept separate from a dope flow through the dope channels. A bore fluid outlet is positioned within a dope outlet of the dope chamber, such that a bore fluid flow out of the bore fluid outlet is substantially coaxial with and substantially centered within a dope flow out of the dope outlet.
Method of preparing a composite sheet
A composite sheet comprising two or more layers is described where the degree of abrasiveness of can be controlled. The sheet can comprise partially or wholly biodegradable or compostable materials or blends thereof. Methods of preparing the composite sheets are also described.
Apparatus with particle- or fiber-making device and an endless belt
An apparatus has a particle and/or fiber-making device and a foraminous endless belt extending in a longitudinal travel direction. A pair of horizontally spaced end rollers between which the belt is stretched horizontally receive fibers or particles from the device. A rotatable support roller between the end rollers directly engages and supports the belt, extends a full width of the belt, and has a diameter of less than 200 mm.
Meltblown die tip assembly and method
This disclosure describes meltblown methods, assemblies, and systems for polymer production. In one such implementation, a meltblown system provides improved uniform output and reduction of fiber size given certain polymer material and production rate. In certain meltblown implementations, the equipment may be ready and quickly swapped while provided in hot standby mode such that the maintenance down time is minimized. The disclosed meltblown equipment may include a polymer beam and air chamber and a die tip assembly. The die tip assembly, in certain embodiments, may quickly be attached onto or removed from the polymer beam and air chamber. In preferred embodiments, the meltblown system includes a single input (e.g., a specific type of polymer material). The meltblown system includes some tapered structures that facilitate polymer flow. The assembly mechanisms used in the meltblown system enables cleaning of the polymer distribution components with each use.
Die assembly and methods of using same
A die assembly suitable for spinning filaments and more particularly to a die assembly having a fluid environment around the die assembly's filament exit holes is provided.
Multi-angle spinneret for forming hollow fiber
DISCHARGE NOZZLE FOR NANO FIBER MANUFACTURING DEVICE AND NANO FIBER MANUFACTURING DEVICE PROVIDED WITH DISCHARGE NOZZLE
A problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a discharge nozzle for nanofiber production apparatuses that when producing nanofibers, allows for an easy change to a specification of fibers to be produced, such as the diameter, and thus an improvement in apparatus variety or workability and a nanofiber production apparatus including the discharge nozzle. A discharge nozzle 2 mounted on a nanofiber production apparatus 1 includes a division-type nozzle unit 6 that is provided with a molten/dissolved resin outlet 9 from which a molten or dissolved resin is discharged, a molten/dissolved resin flow path 10 through which the molten or dissolved resin is sent to the molten/dissolved resin outlet 9, a hot blast outlet 11 from which a hot blast is discharged, and a hot blast flow path 12 through which the hot blast is sent to the hot blast outlet 11. The division-type nozzle unit 6 can be divided into first to fourth nozzle units 6a to 6d.
