Anti-bacterial metallo ionomer polymer nanocomposite filaments and methods of making the same

A composite filament includes a core particle comprising a styrene/acrylate polymer resin, and a shell comprising a styrene/acrylate ionomer resin, wherein the styrene/acrylate ionomer resin comprises a metal ion acrylate monomer, and methods of making thereof. Various articles can be manufactured from such composite filaments.

POROUS FIBER, ADSORBENT MATERIAL, AND PURIFICATION COLUMN

A solid fiber has a modified cross-section which satisfies the following (a) to (b): (a) a modification degree Do/Di, in a cross section of the solid fiber, is 1.20 to 8.50 when the inscribed circle diameter is denoted by Di and the circumscribed circle diameter is denoted by Do; and (b) a porous specific surface area of the fiber is not less than 30 m.sup.2/g. An adsorbent material comprises not less than 28 vol % of the porous fiber as a fiber bundle. A purification column is formed by arranging the adsorbent material in the straight form in an axis direction of a plastic casing and by attaching an inlet port and an outlet port of a fluid that is to be treated to both ends of the plastic casing. The porous fiber can efficiently adsorb a removal target substance in the fluid that is to be treated, and a purification column incorporates the porous fiber.

Method for preparing electro-mechanically stretched hydrogel micro fibers

The presently disclosed subject matter provides a scalable and electrostretching approach for generating microfibers exhibiting uniaxial alignment from polymer solutions. Such microfibers can be generated from a variety of natural polymers or synthetic polymers. The hydrogel microfibers can be used for controlled release of bioactive agents. The internal uniaxial alignment exhibited by the presently disclosed fibers provides improved mechanical properties to microfibers, contact guidance cues and induces alignment for cells seeded on or within the microfibers.

Highly functional spunbonded fabric made from particle-containing fibres and method for producing same
20180313010 · 2018-11-01 ·

Functional spunlaid fabrics incorporating fibers made from non-meltable polymers containing permanently one or more functional additives are provided. The fibers are entangled and interlocked to form a firm nonwoven composite, have different lengths, and aspect ratios above 1,000. The fibers have a mean diameter of 0.1 to 500 micrometres and diameter variations within a single fiber and among each other of at least 30%. The fibers contain more than 40 wt % of finely distributed functional additives in solid and/or liquid form. The spunlaid fabric is produced from a spinning solution containing the non-meltable polymer dissolved in a direct solvent and at least one functional additive. The spinning solution is extruded out of a spinneret, and the resulting strands are drawn in the longitudinal direction to form fibers, stabilized and laid down to form a nonwoven fabric with permanent functional properties. Exemplary spunlaid fabrics include clothing, technical textiles and filters.
