Anti-bacterial and anti-ultraviolet multifunctional chemical fiber

A method for preparing an anti-bacterial and anti-ultraviolet multifunctional chemical fiber includes: dissolving several soluble metal salts and a polymer complexing dispersant into water to prepare an aqueous solution; adding into a polymer monomer; reacting under microwave or hydrothermal action to obtain a polymer monomer containing multifunctional nano oxides; adding the polymer monomer with other monomer, catalyst, initiator, stabilizer, and the like into a polymerization reactor; and carrying out esterification, polycondensation or copolymerization to obtain a polymer melt, and carrying out spinning or ribbon casting and granule cutting to obtain an anti-bacterial and anti-ultraviolet multifunctional chemical fiber or masterbatch chips. By generating nano metal oxides in the monomer in situ before the polymerization reaction, small particle sizes and dispersibility of the nano metal oxide are ensured; the chemical fiber has efficient, durable antibacterial and anti-ultraviolet functions and is free of metal ion precipitation.

Poylmeric composition for use as a temporary support material in extrusion based additive manufacturing

The polymeric composition of this invention can be used as a temporary support material in the additive manufacturing of three dimensional articles without compromising the quality of the ultimate product, reducing printing speed, increasing cost, increasing the incidence of printer jamming, or requiring printers of increased complexity. This invention more specifically discloses a polymeric composition which is particularly useful as a temporary support material for utilization in three-dimensional printing, said polymeric composition being comprised of a first polymeric component which is suitable for use as a modeling material and a second polymeric component which is immiscible with the first polymeric component, wherein the polymeric composition has a continuous phase, wherein the continuous phase is comprised of the second polymeric component, and wherein the polymeric composition has a Shore A hardness of at least 80.

SWIMSUIT

The present invention relates to a swimsuit 23 including an elastic polyurethane yarn. The elastic polyurethane yarn contains; 0.5 to 10 mass % of a cationic high-molecular-weight compound A having a number-average molecular weight of 2000 or more; and an inorganic chlorine deterioration inhibitor B. The mass ratio of the cationic high-molecular-weight compound A to the inorganic chlorine deterioration inhibitor B ranges from 0.3 to 3, and a silicone oil is applied to the elastic polyurethane yarn. A fabric for the swimsuit is treated with water repellent finishing. The swimsuit 23 preferably includes an elastic polyurethane yarn whose ratio of fluorine (F) to carbon (C) on the elastic polyurethane yarn is 0.030 or more in an elemental mass concentration according to scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX). Thereby, it is possible to provide a swimsuit with high water repellency, low water retention rate, and high buoyancy.

Fabrication of PCU/UHMWPE polymeric blends and 3D printing using the same

The present invention relates to methods of fabricating PCU/UHMWPE blended filaments and medical implantable structures using 3D printing of polymeric material, such as PCU/UHMWPE blend structures. The 3D printer dispenses said polymeric material in a layer-by-layer manner to create said medical implant. Polymeric material is dispensed at up to 100% infill. In one embodiment, the layer-by-layer dispensing is at a reduced speed for the bottom and top 1 to 10 layers.

PIEZORESISTIVE COMPOSITES VIA ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING AND COMPOSITE FILAMENTS ASSOCIATED THEREWITH

Parts made by additive manufacturing are often structural in nature, rather than having functional properties conveyed by a component present therein. Composite filaments suitable for additive manufacturing may comprise a continuous polymer phase of a first thermoplastic polymer and a second thermoplastic polymer that are immiscible with one another, and electrically conductive particles distributed in the continuous polymer phase, such as microparticles, nanoparticles, or any combination thereof. The first thermoplastic polymer is dissolvable or degradable and the second thermoplastic polymer is insoluble or non-degradable under specified conditions. Removal of the first thermoplastic polymer from a printed part may introduce porosity thereto, thereby inducing or enhancing piezoresistivity within the printed part. An aqueous mixture comprising the electrically conductive particles and the first and second thermoplastic polymers may have water removed therefrom, and the resulting composite residue may be extruded to form the composite filaments.
