Cut resistant ply-twisted yarns and fabrics made thereof

The present invention provides a multi-ply twisted yarn for a cut-resistant fabric, and the multi-ply twisted yarn comprises (i) at least a first single yarn having a skin-core structure, wherein the skin comprises aromatic polyamide staple fibers and the core comprises tungsten filaments, and (ii) at least a second single yarn having a skin-core structure, wherein the skin comprises cut-resistant staple fibers, the core comprises at least an elastomer filament, and the cut-resistant staple fibers of the second single yarn are selected from one or more of aromatic polyamide staple fibers, aliphatic polyamide staple fibers and polyethylene staple fibers. The present invention further provides a cut-resistant fabric comprising the multi-ply twisted yarn and a protective product comprising the cut-resistant fabric.

Protective woven fabric

A woven fabric having warp yarns and weft yarns, wherein said warp yarns and said weft yarns comprise a core and a sheath, said core comprising a first core component and a second core component, wherein the first core component has a breaking tenacity, measured with DIN EN ISO 2062, of at least 6 g/den, more preferably of at least 10 g/den, more preferably of at least 14 g/den, even more preferably of at least 20 g/den, wherein the second core component comprises elastomeric elements, and wherein elasticity of the fabric in warp direction is at least 20% (measured according to ASTM D3107) and elasticity of the fabric in weft direction is at least 20% (measured according to ASTM D3107).

Cut resistant polyethylene yarn, method for manufacturing the same, and protective article produced using the same

Method of manufacturing multifilament yarns of filled high-performance polyethylene (HPPE) fibers

Methods of manufacturing multifilament yarns of filled high-performance polyethylene (HPPE) fibers that are formed of HPPE filled with a hard component having a Mohs hardness of at least 2.5 are provided. The methods include applying a solvent solution or an aqueous suspension of a polymeric resin to the filled HPPE fibers and thereafter at least partially drying the solvent solution or aqueous suspension to obtain the yarn. The polymeric resin is a homopolymer of ethylene or propylene or is a copolymer of ethylene and/or propylene, and has a density as measured according to ISO1183-2004 in the range from 860 to 970 kg/m.sup.3, a melting temperature in the range from 40 to 140 C. and a heat of fusion of at least 5 J/g.

Composite yarn

A composite yarn is disclosed herein having a plurality of first synthetic fibers having a tenacity of greater than or equal to 1 N/tex; and a plurality of second fibers having a tenacity of less than or equal to 0.95 N/tex; wherein each of the first synthetic fibers and the second fibers are stretch broken and/or cut; and wherein each of the first synthetic fibers and the second fibers have an average length from about 75 mm to about 150 mm. A method of making the composite yarn and articles formed from the composite yarn are also disclosed.
