A cover fabric for a power transmission belt, the fabric woven from warp yarns and weft yarns; the warp yarns and weft yarns each plied from a first filament yarn and a second filament yarn; the first filament yarn comprising higher tensile strength fibers than the second filament yarn; and the fabric woven in a modified twill pattern. A toothed belt with the cover fabric on the teeth, oriented on a bias, with the fabric having a bias angle less than 90.

FUGITIVE FIBER COMMINGLING TO PROVIDE LOFT IN CERAMIC FIBER TOWS

A method of making a ceramic fiber tow and the system regarding the same may be included. The method may include commingling a plurality of ceramic fibers with a fugitive fiber to form a single ceramic fiber tow. The fugitive fiber may be positioned between at least two ceramic fibers included in the single ceramic fiber tow. The method may further include forming a porous ceramic preform including at least the single ceramic fiber tow. The method may further include removing the fugitive fiber from the ceramic fiber tow leaving a space between at least two ceramic fibers of the single ceramic fiber tow. The method may further include replacing the spaces between ceramic fibers included in the ceramic fiber tows with a ceramic matrix.

A self-lubricating fabric contains warp yarns or weft yarns that are composite yarns formed from fluorinated resin yarns and other yarns. The surface area of the other yarns on one surface of the fabric takes up 0 to 30% of the total surface area of the composite yarns, and the ratio of the section diameter of the other yarns to the section diameter of the fluorinated resin yarns in the composite yarns is 0.12 to 0.80. A method for producing the self-lubricating fabric and use of the self-lubricating fabric are also disclosed.

Reinforcing fiber bundle

A reinforcing fiber bundle is a continuous reinforcing fiber bundle having a length of at least 1 m and is characterized by the number of monofilaments per unit width being at most 1,600/mm and the average number of fibers in the bundle being at most 1,000 in a region (I), and the drape level found in a region (II) being 120-240 mm. The continuous reinforcing fiber bundle has a length of at least 1 m and is characterized by the adhesion amount of a sizing agent (I) in the region (I) being 0.5-10% by weight and the drape level found in the region (II) being 120-240 mm. The continuous reinforcing fiber bundle has superior mechanical properties, formability into complex shapes, and continuous producibility.

Transmission belt

A V-ribbed belt has a cord made of polyester-based fibers, the total fiber fineness of which is 2200 dtex or more and 5500 dtex or less. A fiber fineness of the cord per belt width corresponding to a single V-shaped rib ranges from 10000 dtex to 19000 dtex. A belt dry-heat shrinkage force per belt width corresponding to a single V-shaped rib is 44 N or more. The belt dry-heat shrinkage force is a load increase with respect to a belt length of 300 mm in 30 minutes after applying, in an atmosphere of 150 C., a load of 6N in the belt longitudinal direction and holding the belt.
