However, because acupuncture needles are fabricated and packaged differently than are larger gauge needles, acupuncture needles may be less compatible with certain manufacturing processes. Needle assemblies compatible with manufacturing processes may comprise a continuous support material having a plurality of apertures defined therein, and a first injection molded coupler that surrounds a proximal portion of an acupuncture needle and connects the acupuncture needle to a first location upon the continuous support material, such that the acupuncture needle is held in a pre-determined orientation with respect to a longitudinal axis of the first injection molded coupler. The acupuncture needles in adjacent apertures may also be spaced apart substantially uniformly.

An automatic acupuncture device includes: a case; a motor or an electromagnet; a needle driver, configured to move linearly under the force of the motor or electromagnet to drive an acupuncture needle in a needle gadget into a human body, the needle gadget comprising a needle tube and an acupuncture needle inside the needle tube; a needle gadget chamber configured to house the needle gadget; and a locking-releasing structure that is configured to lock the needle gadget so that it will not fall out of the needle gadget chamber during acupuncture treatment, and also configured to release the needle gadget from the needle gadget chamber after acupuncture treatment. A needle gadget is provided for use with the acupuncture device, so that the acupuncture needle will not be exposed in air outside the needle tube before or after acupuncture. The acupuncture process is automatic, safe, without complicated manual operation.

The present application relates to devices, systems and methods for auricular acupuncture. The devices suitably include an ear retention device that substantially contacts a patient's auricular surface, so as to allow sufficient energy from an optical or electric source to stimulate auricular acupuncture sites. The devices and systems are useful in various methods of treatment of patient conditions and presenting symptoms.

Apparatus and methods for positioning acupressure tools are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a template. A portion of the template is sized and shaped to be partially disposed about a curvature of a preselected portion of a body. The template defines a set of apertures. Each aperture from the set of apertures is configured to be disposed overlying a unique preselected acupoint of the body from a set of preselected acupoints of the body when the portion of the template is partially disposed about the curvature.

A needle assembly includes a needle with the needle having a handle at a proximal end portion thereof. The assembly also includes a guide tube sized to house the needle and handle, with the guide tube including an inwardly-extending projection adjacent a proximal end thereof. The inwardly-extending projection is configured to engage an engagement portion of the handle for retaining the needle within the guide tube such that a distal tip of the needle is positioned within the guide tube and a proximal end portion of the handle extends from the proximal end of the guide tube. The engagement being releasable upon a force applied to the proximal end portion of the handle to extend the distal tip of the needle out of the guide tube.
