A machine knitting tool and in particular a machine knitting needle has a shank extending in the longitudinal direction. The machine knitting tool has a stitch-forming portion directly adjacently to a front end and a drive portion directly adjacently to a rear end. At least in the drive portion, an underside of the shank does not have any indentations or recesses and extends along a plane. The shank in the drive portion forms at least one rib portion with a rib height, which is at most 1.1 mm. In addition, the shank in the drive portion forms at least one support elevation, which extends in the height direction beyond the rib height of the at least one rib portion and has an elevation height at its point of maximum height.

A compound needle (13) for knitting machines, which is optimised in respect of stiffness, strength and service life and whose needle (1) has at least one hole (7) with which a functional element (8) of the slider (2) engages when the slider (2) is in its working portion (24). The functional element (8) connects operatively in such a way with the hole (7) in the needle (1) that it limits the freedom of movement of the slider (2) relative to the needle (1) to the slider's working portion (24)i.e. prevents the slider from leaving the working portion (24) at the position of the functional element (8).

A compound needle (13) for knitting machines, which is optimised in respect of stiffness, strength and service life and whose needle (1) has at least one hole (7) with which a functional element (8) of the slider (2) engages when the slider (2) is in its working portion (24). The functional element (8) connects operatively in such a way with the hole (7) in the needle (1) that it limits the freedom of movement of the slider (2) relative to the needle (1) to the slider's working portion (24)i.e. prevents the slider from leaving the working portion (24) at the position of the functional element (8).

The invention provides a needle for stitch formation on a knitting or warp-knitting machine, the needle comprising a main body, a needle hook, and a transfer member or tongue member which is movable in the longitudinal direction of the main body relative to the main body and the needle hook and is configured to open and close the needle hook by way of a relative movement with respect to the main body. The needle further comprises a connecting element which engages around the transfer member or tongue member at least along a part of the length of the transfer member or tongue member, such that the relative movement of the transfer member or tongue member with respect to the main body is guided by the connecting element, wherein the connecting element is connected to an upper portion of the main body. The invention additionally provides a knitting or warp-knitting machine comprising a plurality of such needles, and a method for producing such a needle.

The invention provides a needle for stitch formation on a knitting or warp-knitting machine, the needle comprising a main body, a needle hook, and a transfer member or tongue member which is movable in the longitudinal direction of the main body relative to the main body and the needle hook and is configured to open and close the needle hook by way of a relative movement with respect to the main body. A slider spring for a slider used with a slider needle of a loop-forming textile machine includes a closing section for closing a hook opening of the slider needle, a connection section for connecting to a slider body, and a guide section for guiding the slider at a needle body. The slide spring includes at least one bead with a concave bead interior and a convex bead exterior. The slider spring is shaped and configured to be stacked against at least one other slider spring such that the convex bead exterior of the slider spring fits completely within the respective concave bead interior of the at least one other slider spring. A slider for a slider needle includes first and second slider springs as described. A slider needle includes a slider displaceable in a needle longitudinal direction relative to a needle body for opening or closing a hook opening.
