Atraumatic stent and method and apparatus for making the same

A stent includes a mesh wall including a plurality of filament crossings, the mesh wall defining at least a first stent section with a first diameter, a second stent section with a second diameter smaller than the first diameter, and a transition section where the mesh wall transitions from the second diameter to the first diameter. Each of the plurality of filament crossings has a braiding angle, and all braiding angles in each of the first stent section, the second stent section and the transition section are within 5 degrees of one another.

Yarn tensioning device

A yarn tensioning device capable of delivering yarn under tension from a spool to a braiding, weaving or knitting machine consisting of a base and a center rod mounted perpendicular to the said base serving to locates the spool while allowing it to pivotally rotate. The device further includes a pawl jointed to the base either via a pin joint or via a flexural hinge and operates in conjunction with a ratchet solidly attached to the spool. The device further includes a compliant yarn guiding means which ensure that yarn reels off at an essentially constant tension. The yarn reel-off tension can be adjusted by modifying the operating length of a stiffening spring using a screw and jam-nut pair, and by limiting the maximum deflection of the compliant yarn guiding means.

The present disclosure provides improved braiding methods that utilize a braiding eyelet that may be housed on a carrier in a braiding machine. The eyelet includes a first side, a second side, and a flared opening extending between the two sides. The flared opening includes a slot holder that has first and second slots sized and configured to allow a single end to pass there-through such that when a group of two ends is used for the braiding, each individual end can pass through its own hole or slot to ensure that the end is locked in place and there is no space or clearance allowing them to cross over one another. Many embodiments of the present disclosure are suitable for constructing a medical device.

BRAIDING MACHINE, SWITCH FOR A BRAIDING MACHINE, AND SORTING APPARATUS

The present invention relates to a switch for sorting, deflecting, and supplying ferromagnetic elements. Here, the switch comprises at least two electromagnets, which are embodied curved or circular. The magnets may be installed fixed in the switch, on the one hand, or supported on an axis, on the other hand. The ferromagnetic elements are moved by a conveying element through the switches. Advantageously the switch can also be used to control bobbins in a braiding machine. Here, the bobbin can be transferred to another impeller. This way new options are generated with regard to flexibility of braids. Further, this invention offers a considerable reduction of braiding time in case of complex braids.
