Method of making mounting mats for mounting a pollution control panel
A method of making mounting mats comprising the steps of: (i) supplying inorganic fibers through an inlet of a forming box having an open bottom positioned over a forming wire to form a mat of fibers on the forming wire, the forming box having rollers for breaking apart clumps of fibers and an endless belt screen; (ii) capturing clumps of fibers on the endless belt; (iii) conveying captured clumps of fibers on the endless belt so as to enable captured clumps to release from the belt and be broken apart by the rollers; (iv) transporting the mat of fibers out of the forming box by the forming wire; and (v) compressing and restraining the mat of fibers to thereby obtain a mounting mat having a desired thickness suitable for mounting a pollution control element in a pollution control device.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING BINDER-CONTAINING INORGANIC FIBER MOLDED BODY
A main object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a binder-containing inorganic fiber molded body where localization of the binder is inhibited. The present invention achieves the object by providing a method for manufacturing a binder-containing inorganic fiber molded body including steps of: a binder solution coating step of coating an inorganic fiber molded body with a binder solution, and a liquid coating step of coating the inorganic fiber molded body coated with the binder solution with a liquid of which boiling point is less than 120° C.
CARBON FIBER MAT, PREFORM, SHEET MATERIAL AND MOLDED ARTICLE
A carbon fiber mat has discontinuous carbon fibers dispersed in the form of monofilaments, wherein the orientation direction of the monofilaments of the discontinuous carbon fibers is random, number average fiber length (L.sub.n) is at least 1.5 mm and up to 15 mm, and proportion in number (Pa) of the discontinuous carbon fiber monofilaments having a fiber length in the range of median fiber length (L.sub.c)±20% is at least 40% and up to 99%.

Nonwoven joint tape having low moisture expansion properties and method for using same
The invention is directed to a joint tape for finishing a joint between boards comprising a nonwoven substrate that does not swell substantially in the presence of water. The invention further provides a method of finishing a joint between boards comprising (i) applying a joint tape of the invention to a joint between boards by embedding the joint tape in a first coat of joint compound, (ii) applying a second coat of joint compound over the tape, wherein step (ii) is carried out before the joint tape and joint compound applied in step (i) have substantially dried, and optionally (iii) applying a third fill or finish coat of joint compound over the tape, wherein step (iii) is carried out before the joint tape and second coat have substantially dried.
