An apparatus for processing yarns includes a first roller set for extending yarn bean; a node generator installed after the first roller set for forming node section of the yarn beam; a first cleaning chamber installed after the node generator for cleaning the yarn beams; a material chamber for adding additive to the yarn beam; a second roller set installed after the material chamber for extending the yarn beam; a first heating chamber installed after the second roller set for thermally setting additives to the yarn beam so that the additives are firmly secured to the yarn of the yarn beam; a third roller set installed after the heating chamber for controlling the heating time of the yarn beam in the first heating chamber; and a fourth roller set installed after the third roller set for winding the yarn beam to a desired shape.

Methods For Modification Of Aramid Fibers

Methods are described for treatment of aramid fibers to modify the surface of the fibers. The treated fibers have improved adhesion to elastomer materials as compared to untreated fibers. Modification methods include irradiating the fibers, compressing and straining the fibers under a constant pull force and immersing the fibers in a coupling agent fluid. The treated fibers can be used with elastomers and provide reinforcement elements in products such as tires.

Dispenser for Thread Treatment Compound
20180237969 · 2018-08-23 ·

A thread conditioner dispenser is provided as well as a method of conditioning thread. The dispenser has a base with two longitudinally extending sidewalls attached which are joined by two transverse sidewalls. A receptacle for thread conditioning compound is defined interior thereto. Notches are formed in each transverse sidewall. The point on each notch closest to the base defines a saddle point. An adhesive layer is attached to the base such that the dispenser may be removably attached to a solid surface. Thread may be passed through one of the notches and withdrawn through the opposed notch.

Apparatus and method for applications of optical fiber coatings

One embodiment of the disclosure relates to a fiber coating apparatus having a fiber entrance opening, a conical section with walls tapered at half angles between 2 and 25 and height (also referred to as length herein) L.sub.1 between 0.25 mm and 2 mm, and a cylindrical land portion of diameter d.sub.2 between 0.1 and 0.5 mm and height (length) L.sub.2 between 0.05 and 1.25 mm.

A thread conditioner dispenser is provided as well as a method of conditioning thread. The dispenser has a storage and dispensing unit and a cap unit. The storage/dispensing unit has multiple resilient plinths and a generally planar base defining a cavity. Notches are defined between the plinths. Multiple linear channels are defined in the base. One channel connects each notch with a diametrically opposed notch. The plinths define a cylindrical sidewall. The cap has a cylindrical sidewall defining an outwardly flaring mouth to engage the plinths. One of the cap inner sidewall and the storage/dispensing sidewall has an annular recess. At least one lug is formed into the other sidewall for engagement with the annular recess. Thread may be passed through one of the notches and into one of the channels and withdrawn through the diametrically opposed notch while the cap sidewall is engaged with the storage and dispensing sidewall.

Fabrication of composite structures

Yarns for use in manufacture of composite structures are intermittently coated with adhesive, and may be twisted as well. These yarns are then woven into fabric, and heat and pressure applied to the intermittently-coated yarns to provide dimensional stability and to prevent unravelling of the fabric during cutting and handling. The fabric is then disposed in a mold or over a mandrel, and a curable resin applied and caused to cure. Provision of the adhesive in intermittent fashion limits propagation of cracks that may form at the location of the adhesive, which does not bond well to the curable resin.
